What are "Scene Torrents"?
Would somebody mind defining Scene Torrents for me please?
I am registered with a number of torrent sites, some of which say that they specialise in scene torrents, but I can't for the life of me work out how these differ from any of the other torrent sites. :stars:
Re: What are "Scene Torrents"?
The scene torrents offer only releases published in The Scene. All other release are not scene, not "official".
Re: What are "Scene Torrents"?
Thanks ivanov. Not sure I'm an awful lot wiser, but I don't think I'm missing anything.
Re: What are "Scene Torrents"?
Check this wiki out, it explains "The Scene"

Re: What are "Scene Torrents"?
Files that are released within a week, not older, are scene torrents.

I don't want to comment on this but it's not how this term is used in the torrent community. To me, "scene torrents" are torrents of releases that are primarily distributed via very private sites and are only being leaked on more easily accessible distribution systems like trackers. "non scene torrents" on the other hand are more often than not releases from single users or small groups that don't have to worry about dupes or strict scene rules - also the distribution is rather locale, often released for a limited group of users in an irc channel or a certain tracker.

Re: What are "Scene Torrents"?
Scene Torrents are also a lot cooler than Scene Emo.
Re: What are "Scene Torrents"?

Is this a joke?
If not you should consider reading up on the subject you answering, instead of giving false information.
A scene release can be 5 years old, and its still a valid scene release.

He's talking about the current implementation on most high-level trackers. IE. most recent stuff is individual scene files, but sometimes are or sometimes aren't scene.
Re: What are "Scene Torrents"?
Scene release have to adhere to very strict rules and criteria. Unfortunately these rules are very archaic and result in low quality files sized for cdrs... Non-scene releases however don't have any rules to stick to other than the ones that the tracker they are released on have.

u're making a confusion...those are 0day releases
scene releases have been around for like 25 years or more and they still are scene releases
Re: What are "Scene Torrents"?
Sry for misunderstanding, was reffering to 0day releases.
And like everyone quoted me and said, scene relases are those released by The Scene.

Re: What are "Scene Torrents"?
Scene releases are released generally by a GROUP of individuals who make up a release group. Ex: Diamond, MVS, ect.... Its generally a group of individuals who share the files amongst themselves and other scene groups. These files are SUPPOSED to stay within the group or affils themselves or even other groups. But they are intended to stay within the scene. Torrenters grab these private files and share them with the members on their tracker that they upload on.
Pertaining to the 0-Day files... those would be files that were released on the scene and have not been out for more then 1 day (the day they were originally released.)
Non-0Day scene releases... would be anything released by the scene. It could be anything from a game released a decade or more ago... to a video released last week.
You can compare this idea to a GEEK. Once a geek always a geek. Once its a scene release its always a scene release ;)
As oppposed to Non-Scene files which can come from p2p groups similiar to scene groups but many times not as organized... or from individuals who rip the files themselves just to share with their friends and users on the sites they get uploaded on.
