Okay, I just got one two nights ago for 200 bucks on sale. Yey, but when I hooked it up and all, my computer only say it's 232GB. What happened to the other 18GB? I have all the latest updates and all.
Did I just get rip? Someone please explain to me. ^_~

It's because manufacturers say 1000MB = 1GB, when in reality 1024MB = 1GB.
They also use 1000KB = 1MB when that's wrong, too.
yeah so basically they make it sound like you have more than you actually do..but sounds like you got how many its suppose to have...some harddrives come up way short...i got a 200 gb hard drive one time and it only had 120gb...definatly wrong i had to rma it

It's the same for any storage device. For MP3 says it's 512mb, but I can't even fit 500mb worth of music on it.:dry:

I like to go to the big box stores with my 4GB thumb drive and download a few gigabytes from new HDDs then take them home and install them on my home PC.
That's how I grew my 36GB Raptors to 74GB.

Hey, new update. I send an email a day ago asking one of there tech support representative and here is the reply that i got.
"Windows will use the space to reserve in hidden for security issue. that is the reason why takes up to 18GB missed."
Is it really true or just some randomness bs to convince their customer?
