P2P insurer will pay your fines if RIAA sues: $19/year!

this probably belongs in filesharing, but i wouldn't take it too seriously. i figured more people would get a kick out of it here.

I have no idea if these insurers can be trusted with $19/year, but it actually sounds like a pretty plausible business model. If you count up all the file-sharers on the net, and divide it by the all the fines and settlements ever paid to the RIAA, my guess is that it's way less than $19/year, which suggests that you could make a buck (or Kronor) at this. Sounds like a good idea and this could also go in the News section too.

Anyway it's a good idea for those that are really paranoid and could help the p2p community because more people will be willing to FIGHT the RIAA. :)
I wouldn't go for it though since I'm not worried. :P

Bet there's a get out clause that says you aren't covered for illegal actions. :blink:

just imagine if it worked just like you assumed it would. all the wreckless filesharing you could withstand! it would be even cooler if they provided insurance to filesharing websites (pirate bay, allofmp3, isohunt, torrspy etc.). that would be glorious. :happy:

no loiyke using public torrent sites that are in the middle of legal troubles and not using peerguardian. stuff like that.

How in the name of fuck can you insure someone against getting caught doing something which is illegal.

That itself could be considered an offence in this Country, ffs.

Maybe I can start this up in Australia. I recently read we have the most bittorrent users per-capita of any where in the world must be a market.
