Job interview Thursday
Got an interview for a 'proper' job on thursday...:)
Got to be there for 10.30 and my interview is at 5pm (I am assuming I will get fed and watered, and probably a bit of a guided tour sorta thing)
I have to give a 10 minute presentation on:
'my research, summarising methods used, and showing its relevance to the Policy Oriented Social Sciences agenda.' :stars:
feck!
:hic:

Re: Job interview Thursday
Given the timetable as outlined, one suspects there may be more to it than a 10 minute presentation and an interview.

Public policy research...case studies, analysis using largely qualitative tools, literature review, write papers, reports etc. Contribute generally...which means a bit of dissertation supervision, the odd seminar and maybe a bit of teaching....which would be nice.
It is a public policy/social sciences project, something to do with examining the influence on society of central government's policy towards social control....amongst other things...
I have lost the fucking notes I wrote when I phoned them up for more info.....bollocks.... :hic: They were good notes as well, about 4 pages...bollocks, bollocks, bollocks....
:hic:

To be fair your explanation was all but unintelligible to pretty much everyone else here.

Re: Job interview Thursday
But not to all, particularly the Scottish. ;)
erm...emo?

Re: Job interview Thursday
Not sure if it's relevant to this thread, but 'Emo' is often used as a kinder way of saying 'attention whore'.

Indeed, I'm quite sure that Big Les understood it.
Unfortunately, sans Liam, he ploughs a lone furrow in that respect.
With no disrespect to {insert Scottish member here}. ooer, missus.

Re: Job interview Thursday
Whatever you do, don't forget to b reak out some humor adlibs from time to time. It helps relieve a little pressure from you and may buy you some time to think more meaningful ideas during the presentation.

I usually do exactly that in these situations....although they tend to be based more on nerves than wit.

Indeed, mustn't forget to do the ad-libs.

I think you mean breathe.
Yes, sArA, do that, but remember:
DON'T SWALLOW THE AIR!
You'll either start burping or farting IMMEDIATELY!
And don't HYPERVENTILATE!
Passing out is not good, either...
Oh, what to do? :O

Re: Job interview Thursday
I think I buggered up some questions....they asked me some stuff about normative theoretical stuff that completely threw me!.
I won't know until Tuesday evening as they have 2 others to interview on Tuesday. What a bugger....
I've just got to sit and wait although I don't think I did too well to be honest. I am a bit out of practice after being a doley for 2 months  :
-
Re: Job interview Thursday
A good way to tell if its normative theoretical is to hold it upside down, if it sticks to the bowl, its normative theoretical :ermm:

Well, no call....looks like I didn't get the job.. :(
On the bright side...it was 1 1/2 hour journey each way which would have been a pain..... and its still nice weather....so I painted my front door frame and cleaned my windows...meh.

Bad luck, old stick. You seem like a very capable and well qualified woman so I'm sure there's plenty more where that jawb interview came from - something more suitable too, no doubt.

Re: Job interview Thursday
Hope so manky.....it wouldn't be so bad if it wasn't for the fact that we still haven't sold BF's house after that git pulled out 4 days before completion....hence one wage and 2 mortgages at the moment. :(
No holiday this year then..meh...back to the sunshine.

Re: Job interview Thursday
You English and your mid evil house buying ways.

Re: Job interview Thursday
Yeah, I heard that in sunny Scootlund people aren't allowed to do that without paying some kind of fine or somat. I wish it was so here too, it really should not be allowed to keep people hanging on for 4 months and then to withdraw a few days before....it really is not Cricket at all!
