Re: New NewsHosting Website (70 day retention!!)
I bought a 6 month subscription only a week or so ago, do you know if existing customers get this upgrade as well?
EDIT guess not, extra retention costs more

Re: New NewsHosting Website (70 day retention!!)
I dont think its ready yet though, they will probably replace the main website with this new design when its all ready :D
-
Re: New NewsHosting Website (70 day retention!!)
I hope this turns out to be true. That is what is the appeal for giganews.
-
Re: New NewsHosting Website (70 day retention!!)
Just emailed newshosting. They havent been told when the 70 days retention will be up and going.
-
Re: New NewsHosting Website (70 day retention!!)
I noticed their ads here at FST say 50 day retention, but the site still says 45 days, anybody know what the deal is?
-
Re: New NewsHosting Website (70 day retention!!)
I have checked and it still says 45 Days retention. May be its still in the pipeline
-
Re: New NewsHosting Website (70 day retention!!)
u can download nzbs that are 70 days old now..headers are still 45 days
-
Re: New NewsHosting Website (70 day retention!!)
Im so glad Newshosting finally upgraded, now theres no need to pay through the nose with Giganews just to get decent retention, I also just grabbed a 79d old NZB...kinda makes me wonder how high Newshosting new official retention will be.

Re: New NewsHosting Website (70 day retention!!)
The NewSite has been updated. The pictures on the main page saying Signup now have changed (dunno about anything else).

Re: New NewsHosting Website (70 day retention!!)

Re: New NewsHosting Website (70 day retention!!)
70 day retention at a fraction of the price of what Giganews charges :)
-
Re: New NewsHosting Website (70 day retention!!)

Hate to rain on your parade, but PROVE IT!
This is from the NEWSHOSTING site!
UNLIMITED Single User Accounts - NHXL
70 Day Retention, 99+% Completion
This account is limited to 8 connections, and 70+ days of retention. These accounts also have access to all of the newsgroups we offer.
It does not say anything about 90 day retention for NZBs...I think YOU are dreaming.
-
Re: New NewsHosting Website (70 day retention!!)
if you try downing something with an NZB that is 80+ d old you will find that you will be able to grab the posts with full completion :naughty: I read on Slyck that newshosting will be spooling up to 120 d anyway.

I just signed up for Newshosting's NHXL plan earlier and I already downloaded a file using a 82d old NZB file so I guess their retention is pretty close to the other usenet provider with high retention (Giganews), I know people like them but I think they are just way to expensive. Newshosting is awesome :D

Re: New NewsHosting Website (70 day retention!!)
omg that is big rentension :O
-
Re: New NewsHosting Website (70 day retention!!)
I personally think that the 70d retention newshosting offers is good enough, I know Giganews has 90d but I can't justify paying $5 more a month for a measley 20d more of retention.
-
Re: New NewsHosting Website (70 day retention!!)
I choose Newshosting.com for its speed, long term retention and reliable service. Beside newshosting.com, Usenet-News.com is also damn good.. check googling and read some review/compar, NH and Usenet-News (giganews too) always stay on top :D
-
Re: New NewsHosting Website (70 day retention!!)
Newshosting is badass, I signed up for their NHXL unlimited plan and got a free shirt:)
Nothing but great service all around

That sounds kewl, but I asked UNS support and they didn't know anything about it, where did you get that info?

Re: New NewsHosting Website (70 day retention!!)

Cool Beans, I think Newshosting is planning to increase their retention again too because I can grab binaries as old as 86 days, I heard a rumor on Slyck that they might go to 120 day retention:yup:

Does anyone know if that is true, is Newshosting really boosting their retention to 120 days?
If it is true that would be awesome !

I read in a thread on slyck.com that highwinds owns newshosting and highwinds has huge server farms so the upgrade would be easy, they probably are :yup:

Re: New NewsHosting Website (70 day retention!!)
I guess they'll end up getting fucked by MPAA or something after a while., if they continue to store files for even more months... Sounds a bit risky to me.
-
Re: New NewsHosting Website (70 day retention!!)
didn't think so .. because Giganews will grow up more and more for the retention, they are planing for 100 days and more shortely ..

On the contrary..its not risky at all, the entertainment industries have and will continue to leave the usenet alone, the usenet is perfect for massive content delivery when they decide to sell movies over the net :yup:
