Xbox controler to pc?
I need some sort of gamepad so I can play madden and the other 2007 titles when they come out on the computer..but I dont have money for a decient controler.
Is their a comercial converter I can buy at a place like future shop or bestbuy? Or is that a special order off the intenet only?

Re: Xbox controler to pc?
i suggest u just make ur own adapter
just take 1 of ur break aways, and a USB cable... and splice them together, just make color to color and it'll work fine, then search google for XBCD and you'll find the driver u need.. works great :) it what i did

Re: Xbox controler to pc?
Although a bit pricey, you can purchase the wired version of the 360 controller and it will work with your PC.

Re: Xbox controler to pc?
The convertors are around $10 and might even be available at a local franchise depending where you are...

Re: Xbox controler to pc?
I bought a 2 controller usb converter for like 7 dollars 4 or 5 years ago, really convinient for those type of games.

Re: Xbox controler to pc?
If I wanted to make my own cable..would I need to use a specific type of usb cable (printer, joystick..ect) or are they all the same, cause I have this shitty usb hub I dont need. I alco conviently have a xbox extention cable i dont use anymore either..so I can make my own converter instead of wrecking my xbox controler.

Re: Xbox controler to pc?
Make a guide or something

Re: Xbox controler to pc?
From what I've heard usb wires are really finicky and annoying, but I suppose with a little research, a soldering iron and a multi meter it could be pulled off.
-
Re: Xbox controler to pc?
Yeah aparently usb are 4 wire..the exact same as xbox controlers. So all thats required is a little soldering.
-
Re: Xbox controler to pc?
yeah if i were you I would also put some sort of fuse one there, so if you mix it all up shit doesn't splode or something

Re: Xbox controler to pc?
I know a friend of mine has a converter so he can plug his DDR mats into his computer. I imagion that the same thing would work for controllers. the wires in the usb cables I have worked with weren't difficult to work with. I haven't made a converter like this, I was changing a usb cable from a plug to a pin header so that it would plug into a internal usb port. can't imagion that it would be any different though- i just stripped the wires, and attached them to the wires off the pin header plug in the same order by color as a premade internal usb header. I covered all the connections with heat shrink tubing and then covered the splice with a larger piece of heat shrink tubing, and I have never had problems with the connection coming loose or shorting or anything.

Re: Xbox controler to pc?
I know you can buy convertors so you can plug your ps2 controller into your pc so its highly likely there is the same thing available for xbox controllers too.

Re: Xbox controler to pc?
Alright, Im going to make my own..or attempt too. Pics will follow.

Re: Xbox controler to pc?

Re: Xbox controler to pc?
Well I made the cable..works fine. I installed the XBCD drivers..all buttons work in the config program. But when I try to assign the left and right trigger buttons in madden 07..the game crashes.
What should I do?
-
Re: Xbox controler to pc?
not sure, how hard was it to make the cable, im thinking about making one
-
Re: Xbox controler to pc?
if you can solder..its quite simple
-
Re: Xbox controler to pc?
the guide vb posted, it showed that no solder required, just electrical tape them together
-
Re: Xbox controler to pc?
mod went perfect without the use of solder, now im about to try and program it with a game! GTA here i come!
-
Re: Xbox controler to pc?
works perfect in gta, i had to configure many settings, but it worked (configuring the buttons for each game button is for any gamepad) Anyone want a picture of my final work?

Re: Xbox controler to pc?
I've done one these mods before on my madcatz wireless joypads a while back. Now Ive got a usb lead poking out of the dongle/reciever which still works wirelessly and it retains its Xbox use aswell!
@ Smith have you got another joypad you can try with Madden to make sure its not a bug in the game itself?

Re: Xbox controler to pc?
yup you can use that kind if you really want to
-
Re: Xbox controler to pc?
all that matters is that the cable has a full size male USB plug (the kind that plugs into a computer) on one end. it doesn't matter if what kind of plug is on the other end of the cable as you would be cutting that part off to get access to the wires to attach the xbox controler wires.
