what happened?
:oQuote:
Top Gear presenter Richard Hammond was fighting for his life last night after an attempt to break the land speed record ended in disaster.
Hammond, who was filming for a forthcoming episode of the BBC2 show, crashed at speeds of up to 280mph, overturning his jet powered car
He was driving a jet car and on the last run of the day it turned over, injuring him and trapping him inside.
Fortunately the emergency services were there and were able to get him out of the wreckage and rush him to hospital (by helicopter). However he is currently in a critical state.
One hopes he will survive this, anything else is a bonus.
Latest report says he's been upgraded to "stable", they also upped his speed to 300mph :smilie4:
*WARNING* mild harshness above *
Wouldn't your condition be stable if you were dead?
*WARNING* severe harshness above *
Fuck....sounds pretty bad. :(

M'kay then.
my mum has an appointment at the hospital he's at today. i'll tell her to tell him we say hi :ermm:
Why is there a quote from Quentin Wilson on the BBC article?
"Quick, we need someone to say something nice about Hammond. Let's ask that guy who used to do Top Gear way before Hammond turned up. That relationship is just about tenuous enough."
:dabs: what's gonna happen if he makes a full recovery. the TV nearly says he's dead. everybody is referring to him in past-tense, though as far as i understand "stable" means not dead.
I hope he lives, loiyke, just so they'll show the crash on the telly. People might think it's in bad taste or something ghey to show it if he dies, like
Think they'll be giving away hammond organs if he dies?
I really hope he pulls through. I think he's brilliant, entertaining, and a inspiration to short people everywhere.
B3ta loves Hammond

pressing a pedal is easy
doing a tv show while pressing it is a little bit too....
I hope he pulls through.
resonably opitimistic, don't know if thats promising or not.Quote:

he'll be loiyke a lolboy?:o
Clarkson: My new Mercedes SLR goes like soap on a very greasy non-stick frying pan.
Hammond: Lol.
They're showing teh video on itv news in a minute I think:unsure:
nevarmind, it isn't it
why are there questions about safety? it's a car that goes 300mph and has parachutes for brakes :dabs:
I think the question is why did they let Richard Hammond do it? His legs probably can't reach the brake pedal.
Well, duh.Quote:
Experts have suggested that the crash may have been caused by driver error, mechanical failure or a sudden gust of wind that blew across the airfield during the car’s final run.
