Diablo series kept me playing most,then Half life
I'd have to agree simply on replay value, Diablo 2 kept me addicted for over 4 years... Glad I quite playing though, I'm finally getting sleep.

There was this awesome mind-game I used to play on annoying teenage girls at bus-stops.
I'd like start, like I'd smelt something, then I'd check my shoes, then I'd glance at the girl and her shoes and move away a bit, preferably not downwind.

Yeah, Diablo II without a doubt in my mind. Hardcore mode too, what an amazing challenge that presented. It kept me locked in for years. Rest in piece QuillRatCupcake (characters name).

And a long long time ago, bombjack for Spectrum. (and Café Paradise =P)

Easy. Sid Meier's Civilization, part 1. Best game EVER. It's STILL addictive as ever... UFO: Enemy Unknown would be a close second... These are the types of games you can just pick up anytime and get drawn into immediately... Classics.
