Any opinions on what I should do with this blank line?
Let it run or turn it off?

See below . :dabs:
To be honest I hate using the windows config . start . Better third party ones but think its just Java update loading . Please don't take my word for it tho !
Please back away from the keyboard ! :D Try something like Ccleaner , Reg Supreme where you can just tick or untick a box to disable start up, don't delete it willy nilly . :D
Ok can I edit tonite ?

Peat I agree. Go into control panel. Select java. Change the update setting to not check.
@Zap what no double post crack ? :flowers: Oh the agony of it all . Or just delete ?
Um, no peat, I think he means the empty line not the highlighted one.
Skizo:
jusched is the java update utility and its safe turn that off.
A blank line entry is not good.
Consider this: would a legitimate process have an entry there that is hidden in such a manner? No.
I think it's from a fake spyware killer app...
My son's computer had one (bloody 'infected file' ballon was popping up in the systray) a few weeks ago that Hijackthis curiously didn't notice. Spybot's system startup util dod see it though, but I couldn't remove it using that part of the program for some reason.
I can't remember exactly how I fixed it but I usually run Xoftxpy, Spybot, Adaware and then HJT to finish off and one of those fixed it.
Oh sorry silly me ,I just saw the highlited one . Have you tryed Smitfraudfix ?

I don't trust NAV.
Go to http://www.kaspersky.com and get scanned online.

Hasn't failed me in 5-6 years.
I too have dropped Norton.
I'm using NOD32 now and I prefer it.
Good to know you got rid of Symantec Peat. I was holding that against you. But now I can let that go. Whew! :)
I too like VB use NOD32. But after my legit (yes really) license expires in a couple weeks. I got it free from CHIP, the computer mag. Then I might go KAV resident, have it on demand now. Also might try AOL's FREE rebranded KAV lite (AOL Active Virus Shield). Both KAV & AOL's FREE rebranded KAV lite run light. And with scan only new & changed files. A KAV scan takes 7 minutes for my HDD.
