what is the fastest speed anyone has had out there with a 3 meg line?
I have around a 3.5 mB/s line and I consistantly download at 500 kB/s with torrrents.
I max at about 600
Doesn't 3.5 meg bit a second (i.e. your rated speed for your line) = approx 350 KB/s so I can't understand how you get upto 600kB/s
Wouldn't 600 be the equivalent of a 6 meg bit/sec line?
If I'm wrong can someone explain what the equivalents are and why.
No. You're comparing KB to MB as if they were the same amounts.
3.5 MB is equivalent to over 3500 KB
I just did another speed test and got some better results than before.
This time it said I had a 4808kb line - 4.69 connection.
My upload speed was 362kb - or .353mb
Got it?
Well if your connection is 3mbit it means that it is 384KB/s. 1024kbits is 1mbit so u multiply 1024kbit by 3 then divide by 8 which is 384KB/s. If you want to work in KB/s then 1mbit is 128KB/s and then you multiply by 3 which is 384KB/s either way lol.
precisely, so I have a 2Mbit connection which is why my top speed for dl is around 230 KB/s and the torrent clients measure dl in KB/s (atleast BC and Utorrent do)
So as I said, how can skizo get 600? 600 what KB or Kb what client are you using which measures in Kb?
I have a 3.5Mbit connection,
and the fastest speeds that i've managed to reach is about 570-580 kB/s.
What is everyones Upload speed?
Mine tops out at 25 KB/s
That cant be right because i have a 4Mbit connection and theoretically you are meant to be getting max 510-520KB/s which i do get.
As i said earlier.....3.5mbit=3584kbit
So 3584kbit/8=448KB/s max
If ya wanna work in KB/s then 1mbit=128KB/s
3mbit=128*3=384KB/s
0.5mbit=128/2=64KB/s
384KB/s+64KB/s=448KB/s
I have a 3 MBit line and the highest I've gotten is roughly 580 kB/s with utorrent. This only happens when I have two or three torrents running, and each one averages about 200 kB/s. The highest I've seen a single torrent download would have to be about 415 kb/s, again with utorrent.
not bad huh?
Edit: Let me just add that the fastest I've ever downloaded from a webpage is about 300 kb/s, and thats off my providers website. I hope that proves that it do indeed have a 3 Mbit connection.
You are probably just receiving more bandwidth than what you pay for- it happens. Some FiOS users report speeds like 22mbits when in reality they only pay for the 15mbit package. Otherwise, a speed of 580kB/s would be close to a 5mbit connection...
utorrent has the option to make your speeds show in Kb ?
and about the speed question, i used to have a 1.5/256 cable connection, the 1.5 i presume was Mbit ,but how was it i was able to get downloads as high as 900KB/s ?...more than once and often get downloads around 700K mark...but now ive got a 25000/1024 ASDL2 and pull those mothers in at 1.5+MB/s often..:mbounce:
I've got a 100mbit connection in my country(uploading with 7.2MB/s right now :D(highest speed that I've seen was 9.6MB/s)) and 10mbit connection to other countries, it's usually about ~1.2MB/s :)
You're confusing Kb & KB, utorrent measures in KB/s
you should get speeds of 434 KB/s on your 3.5 Mb connection but your lucky as with some other users you're pulling in faster that your connection should allow.
Now then why has everyone ignored my request for your upload speeds? As down load seems to be limited to what you upload at I'm interested to find out what you guys who dl at those high speeds can up load at?
And do you only get those high dl speeds when you are lucky enough not to be uploading?
SO you are able to upload at the same (or almost) capacity as you can download.
Most ISP restrict upload to 10% of download.
if im on a 1.5mb up and 256mb down on ADSL what is the best speed that i can expect to get, and what do i have to do to the router to get these speeds, as it stands right now i get (if i lucky) 25-30KB on bitlord and shareaza is a little better but not by much
input most welcome
I understand that theoretically I should not be able to get much over 448kB/s but most of the time I do. This only happends when im using uTorrent as far as im aware of, 'back in the day' when I was using DC and had about the same connection(3.0) then fastest speed i've had was around 370kB/s. I tested my connection now and the results say that i have a 3.75Mbit connection.
napros..first of change to utorrent, bitlord is as old as whatever and shareaza is not a real bit torrent program ,as it does not seed in the true sense of the word and it clears your downloads when you close the program so you cant continue seeding when you next start up ..as far as speeds ,if you find a well seeded torrent (30+) you shold get speeds at around 400KB/s+, just make sure you are connectable..
i have downloaded stuffs at more than 2MBps through torrents....
and I have a 30 mbps connection...............
1.1 megs down 100 kbs up wish i could go faster but its not offered any faster here in fla
u can also make a virtual server on ur dsl router.. my speed is about 1 mb/s then
3.5 Mbit and I get a constant 360 kB/s MAX on a well seeded torrent.
345KB/s is what I get from good torrents while surfing the internet at the same time.
