i sort of just found it myself and went from their
I use to visit Warez sites looking for goodies found the fosi bear and went from there .
My friends are self-proclaimed pirates and i learned from them
I remember seeing Napster on the news and that's when I started
was at university and saw few friends doing "somethin". all the rest is history...
Heard about Napster from work colleagues, took it from there
Used Morpheus and Napster back in the day and learned quite a bit. Upgraded to Kazaa then K-lite and found this forum. I then realized I opened a whole lot of new gates.
I was just wondering round the internet as you do and i found limewire
few years later i was doing the same and found torrentspy
bit later i was doing the same and found filesharingtalk and thus private trackers :)
It all started with Napster. Found out about it from media and friends. When that was shut down I went to Morpheus -> kazaa -> kazaa lite -> emule -> newsgroups. I could've gone straight to newsgroups had I known about its leetness. ;)
it started with bbs then the internet come and it just got better and better :)
but , yea i found out about it via friends.
Learned from friends in the begining.
Used lots of different sites to become accustomed.
Still learning and love it
Learned about Napster in College, moved to Morpheus, Kazaa, Soulseek (of which I'm still an avid user), and then while trying to download some giant file from some dude p2p stylie, he (a software-pirate yoda of sorts) messaged me and taught the ways of torrents.
Then like a week ago, while trying to find a list of leaked music, I learned there was such a thing as private torrents! Still learning and exploring, which has just led me here.
I found out it while I was at my neighbors house, he was using napster.
friends using kazaa at school, digged it and used it for a long time, then found out about torrents at work and use it alot, always learning more and trying to get into better sites
Self-tought Sharer
Originally since 9/11/2001, at that time my cousin Ice was
here visiting me and so he was showing me how Audiogalaxy
was working :-)
I belive i was blessed with this ability at birth.
Uncanny isnt it?
My cousins showed me napster and then later audiogalaxy
later in schoo I heard of kazaa (from friends not the teachers)
then dc and finaly torrent
I use both dc and torrents now
Where I live, people are not particularly technology-proficient, so I learned through various sites and some discussion forums.
The Internet teaches me many things. Thatz wai im smrt.
Web ftw. Specialist forums are excellent for these things. I refuse to believe some people learned from their mom.
After the fall of Napster was publicized, I started with Morpheus and other crappy p2p apps.
It was all trial and error from what I recall. A case of downloading the client and jumping feet first into it. Used every way possible except WinMX.
I learned how to fileshare with the cops, ;P j/k
Started of downloading from warez sites...man that was slow :) then found audiogalaxy..then got broadband then found torrents...
Took about 4 years ..
i read a lot on forums and sites,
when i'm in school :P
i learnt from trial and error, alot of blood sweat and tears lol and google
At what stage can one self proclaim yourself as a pirate? :ermm:
giving wedgies?
I meant "your mom" :P
best place to learn anything; drugs, stealing, murder etc
Self-taught. Plus I've helped many ignorant teenagers thinking Kazaa and Limewire is all kickass nowadays think otherwise.
My girlfriend told me about it.
Everyone at school was using this new program called "Napster" I took it from there.
my first step to filesharing was thru my friend, i was 13 years. iv learned napster
Am i actually the only one who learnt it from Ramzee? Now that man is a true h4xx0r-1337 :)
ive found something on sites and forums and im still learning i think ;)
Forums!
when i moved here to austin my room mate mentioned it, but didn't think nothing of it. then one of his pot smokin' budz came over and we all got high and had a lan party strictly playing quake3arena. afterward he showed us how to use newsgroups. i fell in love. from there i went on to using napster, then audiogalaxy, limewire, morpheus, kazaa, morpheus (yeah, no type 0, morpheus was great then sucked ballz, then was great again, just to end up dying), kazaa then on to the beloved bittorrent. i think my bt clients are as follows in this order... bittorrent, bittornado, abc, azureus, and now utorrent.
thru the years i've had multiple conversations with ppl using p2p so i voted via several friends.
