As for the number of PUs - it only really matters for higher level sites which are more difficult to seed. Anyone can get PU at like midnight-torrents. For sites like Oink, getting 10GB uploaded might prove difficult for some.

Edit: In case that wasn't clear enough, most site do not require you to pay for higher titles. You get them for uploading a set amount at a set ratio after a set number of weeks.
dont get me wrong id like to be VIP/PU but really if we both download the same stuff at the same speed i dont see why i should pay...

Also to clarify VIP more. Just because TL VIP is a donor class so to speak.
Doesnt mean VIP is the same on all sites.
If you go to TB or most other sites VIP is given to a respected member who has been in the community for a while.
EX: I would give Retro or his other staff from FSC on my site the title of VIP as a sign that we respect them and what they do. If that makes any more sence to you.
ah right so alot of it is to do with rep/ratio/time spent on site...but money can be a factor

PU on 3 of the 5 i use regularly, all gained through x amount of time on the site/x amount uploaded/and x ratio.
Including TL, ive never seen a site which requires you to donate to be a poweruser and ive been a member of around 30 at various times.
VIP is different, your paying to support the site so you get a promotion, sounds fair to me - its not something id ever do tho.
