for such a huge file, it's garbage. for someone who is desperate to see it, i guess it's worth it to them.
Divx would far better say 700mb, 2 hours = twice the quality. I wonder why some even bother with vcd or svcd, their both trash!!! :angry:
Yea I prefer avi myself. Guess people bother with those files because their dvd player can play them. Hopefully most players will be able to play avi soon.
True but wouldn't it be better to get a bigger monitor instead of their puny 15'? like 19-21' for 200-300 bucks. heh some are just too cheap, admit it. vcd, svcd, haha it's a poor man version of dvd. I don't find it more enjoyable on big screen TV, only if the quality is good, if not it suck just as much. But hey, it's just a movie, no need to make it life size to be watchable!
ive watched the vcd version and it was pretty crappy barley watchable
i agree that some SVCD's can look like shit.
However if done right they look superb on a home TV.
The Gangs Of New York 3 SVCD Rip, for example, excellent quality, its at vcdquality.com under svcd's.
Fuck Divx, you dont always want to be confined to watching all your movies on you home pc, no matter how big the screen is, you want to sit down properly and relax and watch your film.

I know barkey, when you mentioned the blob i was getting worried because i'd been downloading it for 10 hours.
So perhaps you should get yourself somebetter MPEG conversion software before you make any comments.

why is everyone always shittin on SVCD?
I personally think its sweet.
Bittorrent is shit tho for getting SVCD's like Bruce, im just waitin till its on kazaa as it takes forever.
plus most of the sites are down.
Bittorrent usually faster than kazaa so soon after release I think.
Well mpeg is like twice as big, and then even have poorer quality than divx? If it wasn`t for the fact that most dvd players can`t play divx, would there even be a need for this format?

But hey, my cheap ass dvd player plays svcds, so i dont mind so much, looks good on a TV. But carting aroung 2 and 3 disc movies is not pleasant....
but worth it for free dvd rips !!! :lol: :lol: :D
