cheating, i beleive it happens, but in ftn?!!!

i was speaking to someone in msn and he said he know people cheating in FTN?

is anyone gonna believe this? he said also in oink, but i know people caught for cheating in oink.

anyone any idea.

people cheat on every site, most of them get caught but im sure some of them found ways to fool the system but thats a very small number i guess.

there is one cheat that will never be caught and thats the good old fashioned summary ban

There is no reason whatsoever to even try cheating at Oink. The ratio there is exteremely low. Anyone can do it. And from what I heard there is no other site better at catching cheaters than Oink. Yes even summary ban according to Oink himself :)

There are ways to cheat with out being caught i've seen the way people do it. The only way I could see this method being caught is if you were uploading a ridiculous amounts and they noticed.

they even accuse people who didn't cheat there :pinch:

Cheating is not always about getting your upload rise.
Cheating can also be not getting your download count, and there are safe ways to do it, without deleting your passkey from your client...

@oink do they think u are a cheater if u use a server without telling them first?

i've heard of several people getting disabled due to high upload speeds.
I would let them know if you can.

I asked them explicitly, and they said they check your ip to see if you are capable of uploading at such speeds. So, I think a lot of the people claiming they were falsely accused are lieing. But I believe that they were accused ;)

Sad that this is being discussed here....this place is called file Sharing talk....the key word is sharing. And that word is especially true in bittorrent....

i think, this highlight makes it clear that i am not promoting cheating here. if the mods think it should be closed and deleted, so be it.

Cheating is done everywhere, from TL to OiNK to FTN. I think those people who cheat are rather stupid because they're going to get banned anyways so what's the point? Very, very few people get away with it I think.

OK this might be a little off topic but it can be hard to seed at Oink if you never upload your own stuff or if you pick the wrong torrents. I picked a torrent with 19 leechers and 1 seeder. It was about 300 megs and I downloaded about 100 megs. By that time everyone had completed it so it took a few days to get 1:1 ratio.

On the other hand; I uploaded a couple of torrents last night and they gave me over 1 gig of upload.

So yeah you gotta pick the right torrents and upload your own torrents or else it can be tough to seed in Oink. I find that everyone finishes the torrents so fast and all of the sudden all those leechers become seeders. That's why Oink has insane speeds and that's why people seed stuff forever. You can find just about anything even it is just one seeder.

At other torrent sites you don't have the community that Oink has so lots of people hit and run and that's why you will see torrents with so many leechers for long periods of time and it's easy to seed there.
