Wow! that's crazy. But they have a huge user database too.
I wonder what are OiNK's monthly costs.
Yeah and they have way more then that coming in so by no means feel bad for them.
Hmm as far as i know OINK is even more expensive
TL has a lot of donators, just look at the top250-downloaders list. Almost everyone is a donator.
I'm wondering how much it costs to host a site like mininova or thepiratebay :D
not much
they don't use any didecated servers for seeding
but OINK has only 4 server's .. right ?
TBH I would imagine oink would be less. Only differance in the figures is..
Oink pays for their hardware/servers. So they only have to pay for the storage of those servers in the DC and the bw they use. Where I imagine TL rents most of theirs for a monthly fee.
Oink also doesnt use their servers for seeding any files so I doubt they pay as much as TL does. Most of that money TL mentioned probably goes into seedboxes.
TL has the advertising money coming in to
wow thats a lot of money.... does dedicated servers cost that much? i don't know but they probably do... i guess..
tl monthly costs are huge but the income from there donors is maybe 3 times higher.
yea... they are the most successful site in my opinion.... grate speeds, not that hard to get it... hands out good number of invites... have grate stuff...
what else? lol!
right.... may be he meant that TL is the most successful P2L site ;)
P2L sucks....
btw, TL has site seedboxes? all of their stuff is uploaded by members, not by site boxes like SCC or ST
Yeah, well. If you're being hard on P2L sites, then pretty much every tracker that gives some upload buffer to donators falls into the same category. In the end TL is probably a lot cheaper too, because a monthly 6-8 Euros won't get you far at most other trackers with a donation bonus system.
If you don't have access to a good internet uplink or aren't in the lucky position to host servers cheap/for free, each tracker will have to face donations sooner or later. They are a necessary evil for a private community that can't be supported by advertising. In my opinion donations are probably inconsequent in the grand scheme of things, because what are a few hundred dollars/euros compared to several terabytes of transfers?
Maybe there are some owners who aspire to make money with their private trackers, that I don't know about. I don't believe that it is working for many and even then the expected amounts are likely to be small in most cases.
P2L sites force members to pay to download they don't thats the difference still your choice weather you help the site or not.
OiNK is hosted on LeaseWeb, right?
oink host is nforce
Nforce is a web host? Can I have the link to their homepage?
OK, I just read on OiNK forums that OiNK is hosted on a netblock registered to NFOrce and NFOrce is hosted by LeaseWeb.
"P2L is bad, they take money for other peoples work."
lol. I find that a little ironic if you know what i mean.:yup:
dont forget oink is like 6 times at least the size of torrentleech...
oink:Peers 1,655,144
tl : peers 230,868
oink have 4 servers in total.. tl does not have 14 servers :P (maybe if they had like 11 seedboxes they would have 14).. from what i can tell, it has a tracker box, an apache box and a mysql box.. i seriously doubt they had the skills to split the db into two boxes and theres no other way to do a split.. i m drawing the aformentiioned conclusions based on the fact that they havent even been able to upgrade their paging system (u can check that by going to users and trying one of the last pages.. u will soon find that the page is taking ages to complete and thats because of a performance issue with mysql and large offsets which is the standard paging system tbsource is using.. u can offcourse rewrite the paging system like oink did so it bypaases this limitation, which tl havent, and considering how easy it is to do compared to spliting the db into two boxes, and hte performance advantage they would get if they had done so, i would say that their db is not splitted and as such i see no other way they could have split the site into more than 3 servers ;) )
inmo, tl, the site that is, does not run 0n fewer nor more than 3 really powerfull boxes... now if they have 11 seedboxes is another matter that noone but them can really know, but i personally doubt that they have 11 sboxes...
peace.
