I tried a bunch of times, but windows xp pro defrag doesnt defrag my 1gb+ files.
Is there a program out there that will?
gonna look up reviews.

aye i heard of diskkeeper look that up
What kind of files are they? VHDs, logfiles and some Xvids won't defrag but it usualy means they aren't written in NTFS format or there are errors in the files.
The OSx ISOs I got wouldn't defrag because windows didn't recognise the format. I think it was you that had the MAC stuff?
try diskeeper 7.0. i like it and hope dat u ill 2.
Download it from here.
Diskeepers good ..but imo pefect disk is alot better
The best PERFECT DISK from RAXCO.
k, i'm stuck in the middle now.. gonna read review on these both.
Last time i used 3rd party defraggers (not there 2 yet), they gave me major slowdown on the hd and stuff.
It seems only my .ISO, .Bin, .Vhd (virtual hd from virtual pc) files wont defrag. Sure those other programs can also? How do they get fragmented and not have a way to defragment them..darn.
reviews/rateings:
Cnet:
Diskeeper=61%good 39%bad Perfectdisk=67%good 33%bad
Zdnet:
Diskeeper=65%good 35%bad Perfectdisk= no rateing yet
Perfect Disk:
About.com gives Perfectdisk a great review
Amazon.com gave PerfectDisk 5 star review
Diskeeper:
Pc Mag gave Diskeeper a good review
PC World gave Diskeeper a good review
My conclusions are they both look pretty good.
I mean the Diskeeper reviews said it could defrag while your running applications, and the perfectdisk reviews said it was slow but did a better job that diskeeper.
Ratings
1) Perfect Disk
2) O&O
3) Diskeeper
Just my opinion - but I love a good defrag - in all seriousness I tried them all recently B)
Forgot to add
If you get PerfectDisk get DiskState as well [ also from Raxco ] they work well together

I use Norton Utilities - Speed Disk....it works fine for me with never any problems...but, i have never tried any of these other programs being suggested, so I can't say if it's better...im gonna have to try them
I also tried Norton Speedisk awhile back and my computer was allways lagging after it finished. (i tested it on 2 different computers even) It was the 2002 version, but still i dont want to get near that program anymore. I can trust Norton WinDoctor though, that program actually speeds things up.Quote:

to me all Norton Products (except the speedisk in ultilities) are good. Antivirus rocks
I had that problem once with WinXP and Norton 2002....Now, I run Win2k w/ Norton Systemworks Pro 2003, and it doesn't cause any problems...Im still gonna try those other programs, thoughQuote:

PerfectDisk 6.0 is the best by far. Its analyse feature tells exactly what kind of defrag each drive needs. :D
