Did you speak Dutch when you moved to the Netherlands or not?
Thinking about moving back the Belgium but don't really know how things would work for Gem as he doesn't speak Dutch...
Any ideas?

Hoi Skweeky..no I had top learn it from scratch. Best is for Gem to watch television programs with "Dutch" sub-titles.. "Read" the papers daily... and you make sure everyone is gossiping about him constantly, that way curiosity will assist him and he will be encouraged to learn..!
Another good reason is longevity...I heard on the news today...People living in Scotland have 70% more chance of having a heart attack that those living in south-east England. I suppose it would be asking too much for Gem to go and live in Kent...
Two more good reasons are Belgian beer and Dutch wiet!
Did you have a job when you first moved there though?
speak english!
jk, sorry dude cant help
Nope..my visit to the Netherlands was intended to be a holiday. However I found work within two weeks..the rest is history. I am sure the same will go for Gem. There is plenty of work at the moment and with your assistance he should feel at home immediately after the first beer (Jupiler).:)
I would go for it Skweeky and Gem :yup:
What kind of work did you do without speaking English?
I sold myself as a sex slave to one of the most beautiful Dutch woman one can imagine. She was at the top of an international drugs ring that was mainly involved in the selling of hash and cocaine...
It's well known fact that English men are well sought after by continental women as they are known as great lovers and never ever in need Viagra. :)
please tell us more about the beautiful Dutch drug lady
did she ride one of those enormous bicycles too?
I will tell you tomorrow about my wife's (ex) white bicycle, ET...
I worked for a while doing temporary work..cleaning at Schiphol Airport.. as a courier and my favorite was as stud.....if you do decide to move back home..then Gem should have a rudimentary knowledge of Dutch like.." Where is the benefit's office located? " Or " Where is the local Coffee Shop? " that sort of thing... :)
...or "can i have a packet of king sized rizla please"
He knows the basics
Bier
Blaadjes
Café
Hehe ..he should get on fine and remember Zeeland, is across the Schelde.. :D
Of course ET.. I am also willing to send you a basic FST Smokers Get Started Kit..including one Power Skunk seed, one pot and enough soil to fill it, a FST chillum made of genuine soap stone, one packet of extra long Rice Papers and some extra quality paper to make roaches; all this gift wrapped.
You've never offered to send me something like this :snooty:
Oi Nigel! Wha gwan?
please send me one FST Smokers Get Started Kit please, will that include any growing tips? :)
lmao
Might not have to send it if I move back home.
Not quite sure yet though.
Difficult decision
Move back home..You know it makes sense Skweeky...unless Gem is employed and earning at least 3000/4000 € per month..then there is Jupiler, Belgian Bon Bons and last not least Dutch Skunk and extra long Rizlas :)
I wonder if he would be allowed to go 'doppen'
What's wrong with Scotland all of a sudden?
Erm not a good begin ...well a good end. ( I don't know) There is a lot of work to be found and if you settle close to Antwerp he should find plenty of temporary work at different"uitzendbureaus." That way he could more or less choose the hours he wishes to work while you both consolidate your new positions.
yeah I suppose so...
I'm sure there'll be plenty of jobs in the harbour and that
If he wants to work he will find it there really is plenty of work now. ..Which, incidentally was the main reason for having my hernia operation in this period ;)
