I dont want the moderators to take this the wrong way because I am not asking for an invite, but people tell me that TL is a great place to start when you're new and it is fairly easy to get in. How do I get in if I dont have a friend in it or if I dont have access to the invite forum?

I mean what about now? Public trackers obviously blow. It just sucks because I feel like I am being punished for just finding this website when in reality I have been using BitTorrent for years.

There are plenty of other decent private trackers out there that have open sign-up. Have you looked through this thread.
TL is good tracker.. but a lot of files form it you can find on other trackers.. so like GHURKA said just look for open sign up trackers..
TL certainly isn't the ultimate and only choice you have. On the contrary, you'll be the most satisfied with a small assortment of a couple of trackers.

I have to say I've been fairly lucky to get into TL but like the other users suggested above, there are other decent sites, maybe even better than you can get access to much more easily.
bitnation.com is a decent tracker and a good place to start.
