Got to be a dutchmen for sure but we have so many great players.
Johan Cruijff, Ruud Gullit, Marco van basten , Frank rijkaard, Abe Lenstra, faas wilkens, Ruud van Nistelrooy, Appie Happie, Clarence seedorf (only player with 4 CL cups with 4 different teams!) but i have a nose for great talen so i would go for Royston Drenthe!

can't beleive people think cantona...what about when he attacked a fan? he thinks he is a philospher, if anyone in england said some of the things he said, they'd be wearing their legs as earrings by the next match...he is a bad ambassador for the sport. And Zidane let himself down as well.

I can't decide on just one, so maybe we should think about best keeper (Gordan Banks), defender (Paolo Maldini/Roberto Carlos, midfielder (Figo), attacker (Ronaldo of Brazil)

I kind of have a lot of respect for Cantona attacking that fan, the guy (the fan) was a cawk. Cantona's kick was godly . . .

The thread is about your favourite football player, not your favourite ambassador for footie. Cantona was a magnificent player who appears to have been the catalyst for the change in Man United's fortunes. Manchester United being one of the best supported - if not the best supported - club in the world.

What's difficult to believe about people mentioning him when asked to name their favourite player.

I would probably pick Cantona as one of my favourite players, if not the favourite.
