A DOS computer game, some 15 years back. I still remember that because I (or rather: we, I was living with my parents back then) just got my new 14.4 modem a few days before to download that stuff from a friend's pc.

I used to get in AOL chat rooms and find people serving music. You would type to send a list, the list of files would appear and you would select which files you wanted and type a command for each one. The files were then sent to your POP3 mailbox.

And before that you got new games and apps by mail on diskettes (Oh my was it a long time ago since I last used that word...)

It was pretty easy, but since the servers (people, not computers) had zero protection, they would be on and leave all the time. They might only come on for a single minute before leaving. The other tough part was that you had to find them as they were never in the same room(s). You had to manually go to rooms such as MP3, sounds, etc just to find a server.
Napster was the first for me too. I think the first time I used a tracker I dl a movie, then all tv shows I needed to catch up on.

First thing I leeched... Some Dos game or a Dos app from a BBS. Can't remember exactly.
From Torrents it was a video game speedrun from TASVideos last year.
