I'm getting Qwest DSL, because damn is it cheap. You can get dsl for $21 for 256/256...and for 640/256 for 31 something. Very cheap. Anyway, what will my average speed be on kazaa with both of these speeds. Yeah,I'm a dumbass.....

it stil comes down to ur source there will be no "average" speed if u have alot of sources u'll download fast if u have little sources u'll download slow.
I think they speeds are slow. You should get Road Runner or Speak Easy....maybe even Comcast ( Comcast is Cable) ...Dont buy a shitty product for a cheap price.Quote:

I think you need at least 1 mbps download and 380 kbps upload.
i have qwes dsl and im getting download speed is 56kps top and im on the 640/256 one. btw, i pay 49.95 how u get such a low price on urs
im on the 256/256 one i think and i get speeds of 80kbps tops off web pages
50 tops on kazaa
its not possible to get 80KB/S w/ 256/256. 256/8 is 32. and ur download speed is usually within 90% ( 28 kbs ) of that so it cant ever go up to 80kps. but if u had 640k than it can. but my 640k i only get 56kbs top
Kazaaliterock, it says on the site like 31 something. I maybe missing something but that's what is says. It says it doesn't come with an ISP though. See.....

Yeah DSL is getting cheap these days. It doesn't mean that your speeds will go faster. It just depends how widely shared it is. Plus if the user has a slow connection, it may possibly slow down your downloads speeds as well.
But I've seen some people with speed of like 120kb/s or whatever. Thats impossible to get with 56k so getting DSL must do something.... :ermm:
well i dont know my connection then but its dsl and its pretty good i think
DONT EVER GET MSN. they use a modem call dsl 1000 which have a onbaord firewall thta u cant get rid of. U cant even foward port through it. dont even try tech support, they just tell u to go to a site that isnt even up yet. "we are trying our hardest to get the problem fix." that is wahat they told me except its never fix. im gonna switch to earthlink cable. 2mb/s and up to 384kb/s upload. only 29.95 first six month and 41.95 afterward.
Kazaaliterock, why didn't you just buy the Qwest DSL, it says its only 31.
And where are you getting 29.95 then 41.95? It tells me 45.95. And it says I have to have Comcast cable.
1st question, qwest dsl doesnt inlcude a isp and i didnt know where else to get a good isp. obviously msn wasnt a good one.
2nd question i live in minnesota where time warner is available and it says taht the first 6 month are 29.95 and 41.95 afterward. and make sure u choose cable. dsl is more expensive (49.95).
Yeah, it is for you in America ...Quote:

Here in Britain, broadband is not being pushed far enough by Oftel (the Government sector controlling phone/internet access), 2Mbps cable has just landed in the consumer market, otherwise gullable fools are paying for 150K for £18.99 per month, that's how much I pay for 512/256! Then it's 256K then 512. 1Mbps is becoming popular, but in Sweden they're already on 10Mbps line :w00t:
Meanwhile, businesses are at the top of the line, they have got the 4.096/8.192Mbps services. Cable loses out to businesses, it's more ADSL. However SDSL trials are happening with symmetric speeds of 2Mbps.
ye 2mb has jus landed saw the adverts "telewest"
Bulldog do 2 meg if you are lucky! www.ispreview.co.uk
Well it dependends on where you are located at. DSL sucks. But Cable is the shit. I pay $40 a month and my download speed is 3500KBS (how fast I download a web page.) My transfer speed is 350 KBS (how fast I download files.) If you can get Cox High Speed Internet in your area then thats what I would do. If not find another cable internet service and go with them it is 13x faster then the 256 dsl lines for the same price.

hey i live in MN 2 i use NorthStar access DSL :D :D
hehe twister is a minnesotian (not sure how to speel that) but where in MN. i live in minneapolis and how is northstar?
its pretty good i get at the top 80 kbps download speed tops
and around 50kbps upload speed
i live in princeton (by st. cloud kinda)
EDIT: i dont know how much it is i dont pay the bills my parents do :D
This sucks ass....I can't find any companies that sell 40 buck DSL. :swear:
@twister you're a spoil brat!!! j/k :D . my parent use to pay for it until i got a job. the it was all me. <_< . i've heard of st.cloud but nothin bout princeton. maybe ill look into northstar since im not going to be earthlink for a while.
What is Northstar's monthly price?
If you wanna know the best just go on DSL reports and search for the best ISP in your zip code. It will give you price, average speed test results, and some other useful info, As for DSl vs. Cable, what is to compare you are talking about paying 29, or 31 or 40 whatever for 640 down. compared to 2mbit cable (that is Road Runner's, AOL's. and Earthlink GUARANTEED speed). I hate the company (time warner) but that is better than DSL. and as far as I know Road Runner does not enforce the cap, there is one, but it is not enforced. (I might know if it was).
Road Runner tech support is ok, some assholes some are awsome.
Or come to canada, we have some pretty good internet here.
I will refuse on going to Canada but thanks. :P
Tried DSLREPORTS.COM, they didn't know the distance from my house to the CO or some shit like that. A company called Cybertonic or whatever is selling for 40 bucks a month. :shifty:
A word of warning to everyone never subscipe to a over cheap ADSL company (IE someone that charges less than dial up) because sif that is the case then there is no way that they could be making any profit so when they do begin to stuggle you will find, that contract didnt extend allow people to leave even if the price rose by 50%, then you are stuck.
