Most "Dangerous" Category of torrents to download
First of, if it matters I live in the USA. Now I am wondering what would get ppl in the most trouble, such as downloading music, movies, games, xxx, etc. I would guess dl'ing music can be very dangerous from the RIAA, with movies in a close second from the RIAA. Then I dunno.
Also what is the safest version of Utorrent to use? I guess its not 1.7.x
Is 1.6.1 the safest and best 2 use?
What do you guys think, I know theres some wonderful minds in here.
Re: Most "Dangerous" Category of torrents to download
it depends where you download it from...not really a dangerous catergory
if you download it in public, anything is dangerous...music and movies the most though
download it from a place like ftn? 99% safe
Re: Most "Dangerous" Category of torrents to download
Movies still in theaters, newer and leaked music, etc.
Re: Most "Dangerous" Category of torrents to download
the only thing i've ever gotten a warning for was recent tv episodes off a public tracker.

Bestiality. Socially dangerous, that is.
Re: Most "Dangerous" Category of torrents to download
The chances of getting caught even on a public tracker are significantly low considering how many users you have out there. Alot of times you get the nice little letter from your isp saying stop downloading that material. However private trackers are safer at the moment. Will they remain safer is gonna be a question for the future.

And how does retarded advice like that benefit 99% of the people reading this thread?
Re: Most "Dangerous" Category of torrents to download
I would say the most dangerous to SEED in public or huge private trackers like TL is all MS products.
Trust me on this, especially if you live in US
Re: Most "Dangerous" Category of torrents to download
People often received notice from their isps when they downloaded columbia pictures. In one word, don't jump on to scene releases quickly especially movies and music, if you want to be safe, grab it stop seeding but it is against the idea of torrenting. The safest thing to download is porn. lol Downlaod as many you want. Noone bothers. You needed to be much worried if your location was in Canada. Try something like peerguardian though it will not protect you fully.
In one word, newly released dvdrs (of anything) are dangerous, no matter you download from a public tracker or private.

I'm at a university....if they get a letter from a studio about digital piracy, they disable your internet and forward the warning. Luckily, I just change my MAC address and my internet is back on again ;)
Oh, and I was downloading the Office if anyone was wondering
Re: Most "Dangerous" Category of torrents to download
lol awoenip how long before thye bust your door open?
Re: Most "Dangerous" Category of torrents to download
haha.....I'm relatively safe. The university dynamically assigns IPs and they don't map them to physical outlets. The only way that they can keep track of computers is through the MAC address. When the University gets warnings, they disable internet for specific mac address and try to fool you into entering your university e-mail so that they can forward the warning. When my internet got disabled, I just changed my mac address and they never figured out who i was ;)

Hah, too bad my university didn't have that oversight. But yes, NBC Universal are really on top of their game in tracking down downloaders of TV shows and movies .... from first hand experience.
