OK, poll has been added :)
Damned difficult to choose, but I'd say "Night Watch"....
Yep, Liam's right it's near impossible to choose... But I'd say "Thief of Time"!
/me runs to the other Pratchett books and try to comfort them ( they tend to get noisy when I choose one and leave the others alone ! OOOOOK! )
voted witches abroad, i like the witches ones, and witches abroad has got the most of the cat in (greebo or something isn't it). The cats IMO the best character, the descriptions of him are always great
lamseys a nice chap to put a poll on :) any ways i voted interesting times altough by doing this i am saying i have a favorite which i dont i love em all
Thnks for the pole, nice touch man.
It was sooo hard to choose just one, but I went for Reaper Man.
Death is my favorite character, and a whole book about him was a real treat for me. :)
But I also really like the Night Watch books and the Lancre witches ones too.
That reminds me.. Nanny Ogg's Cookbook isn't on the list, Lamsey. :o
That's becuase it's not a novel. I only included the novels (check the wording of the poll).Quote:

Hmm... well okay, but if that's the basis for inclusion, what about The Science of Discworld and The Science of Discworld II: the Globe? I see they made the list...
They're not so much novels as scientific comparisons that use the discworld as a demonstation of realworld scientific theories... and they contain more of the said theory than fiction - so much so that they put me to sleep every time I tried to read them... something the discworld novels and the cookbook NEVER did.
Not trying to be argumentative or anything (honestly)... but Nanny Ogg's Cookbook is closer to being a novel than those two imho, as it's more a work of fiction... Yes, granted, you CAN cook most of the recipes... but you'd have to be pretty adventurous to eat some of 'em. ;)
I'll leave it at that though.. I'm not looking to start a flame war or anything, and I've said my piece now.
Mine has to be 'Mort'. I just love Death.
I refuse to answer, the Poll is cruel and unusual.
How can anyone possibly pick which is the best. For the love of God it's impossible.
I can therefore only give a trite answer. The best one is the new one I have just started and am enjoying, whichever one it happens to be.
Oh and The Amazing Maurice and Wee Free fall within the category of "A Story of Discworld" as opposed to "A Discworld Novel", strictly speaking.
I think it is to do with being written specifically for a younger audience.
However that would just be pedantry and heaven forbid.
My vote goes to "The Light Fantastic". I really liked this book when I first read it. I found it hard to choose between Wyrd Sisters and The Light Fantastic. I plumped for the latter because it has the Luggage in it. In my opinion the best character by far!!
So many to choose from. I don't like any of them.
If you know you don't like any of them, that presumably means you have read all of them.Quote:

Why would you read 27 novels that you don't like. Surely after the first few you would have given up the effort.
Are you perhaps a mentalist.
Oh come ON guys. The Fifth Elephant was fantastic. I've read it so often it's just about fallen apart. The others were great, but that was fantastic. :D
Re-REad them all as an when its needed
Nigtwatch was better than i thought......Wee Free Men is great ( Love those Mac feegles!!!) :ph34r
Best has to be..............................................................................................................................................................................................................ERERRRmmmmm....................................................................Can't say really :(
At a push I'd say....Good Omens?
I went with Fifth Elephant... It has the whole cast of the city-watch - all it needed was an appearance by Susan :-)
NightWatch
But they are all good, its a close call.........
