Which usenet client do you use?
I was wondering witch usenet client you use.
I myself use SABnzbd on my Fedora storage server witch runs 24/7. SABnzbd has built-in support for NewzBin and i enjoy the web based interface. I can start downloads from work etc.
If i have to download something from usenet on my laptop (Macbook Pro) i use hellanzb or Unison.

Re: Wich usenet client do you use?
Outlook Express.. Lol :sick:It simply works for text groups.
Forte Agent is another good text and small binary group reader. I have toyed around with 40tude dialog but it is a pain in ass to config. So not tried it for at least a year. May have improved I don't know.
For large binaries I use altbinz or sometimes grabit. I know newsleecher is the best but I got short arms and long pockets :naughty:

Re: Wich usenet client do you use?
I use SABNZBD and NZB-TV (http://two-sided.com) for tv shows. Works great
-
Re: Wich usenet client do you use?
newsleecher 3.9b9
LOTS of useful features, good interface, stable.
-
Re: Which usenet client do you use?
GrabIT
It's simple interface and basic options makes it my client of choice.
Also, it free...*cough*not like it'd stop me if it wasn't*cough*
-
Re: Which usenet client do you use?
Grab it i´m pretty much a newb and it suits my needs
-
Re: Which usenet client do you use?
Used to use Newsleecher.. now migrated over to Alt.Binz.. the stability is great, resources are less.. and much more customizable.. works exactly how I need it.. also the NZB play feature is great to start watching TV shows/movies as they're still downloading..
I donated and it's worth it for the latest builds, updated every few days pretty much. And the developer will add any reasonable request you ask for.. can't ask for more than that for any software..

Re: Which usenet client do you use?
Alt.binz
Very easy to use.

Re: Which usenet client do you use?

NewsBin
Hey, thanks.
After I posted that I stumbled upon XNews and tried it out... not that difficult to use and its free.
However, the updates and filters do take a while :whistling
Maybe I'll just try NewsLeecher for a month and see the advantage of their supersearch or w/e its called.
Thanks

Re: Which usenet client do you use?
I thought more ppl used newsbin, which is what I use.

Re: Which usenet client do you use?
never used newsbin, but have used newsleecher and grabit. between the two I'd say that newsleecher is the more user-friendly. It may have a slightly larger learning curve, but it makes the whole process (downloading headers, auto repair/extract, reading and posting) much easier than grabit.
-
Re: Which usenet client do you use?
I've never used the auto repair or extracting features of newsbin. I just do it all manually once I finish downloading. Are these features faster than doing it that way? What are the benefits?

Re: Which usenet client do you use?
grabit and newsbin for giga

Well, it's just a little more convenient for it to be done automatically, but not necessary. Also, newsleecher doesn't have the "decoding" period after the file is downloaded. That was one of the features of newzbin that I really didn't like. Even if I didn't have repair 'n extract enabled, it had to "decode" each file after download. I have no clue what this does (except maybe to "decode" the yencoding done during posting). either newsleecher doesn't have to do this, or it does it while downloading (which I would think is a better use of time).
anyone knoe for sure what the "decoding" is in grabit?

Re: Which usenet client do you use?
I'm fairly new to this whole usenet thing but have been holding my own so far. I'm using Usenext v4.34 and have been for about 6 months. I'm paying about 30 dollars US for 50 Gigs. I was wondering if this is a good deal or are there other programs/services out there that are cheaper and or better, that may work on the same interface? I'll let you pro's inform me of what works the best.
Thanx

Take a look at http://www.giganews.com/ or http://www.newshosting.com/?a=51500 you will find much better deals there! :yup:

Re: Which usenet client do you use?
Newsleecher. Best money ever spent. Oh yeah I also download a lot from Easynews web interface. Easynews web interface kept me coming back and now I have about 801 gigs of unused credit. It just keeps adding up too. I don't know if I'll ever use it all.

Re: Which usenet client do you use?
alt.binz used to be grab it fan but recently switched.

Re: Which usenet client do you use?

Re: Which usenet client do you use?
I use NewsLeecher and also own a license for Newsbin Pro, but I mostly use NewsLeecher the last couple years.
I tried alt.binz, and it seems nice, except I can't get it to be stable on Vista. It crashes every single time after about 5 mins of downloading.
-
Re: Which usenet client do you use?
Alt.binz for me, never had any problems with it in Vista or XP. When I first got into newsgroups I used Grabit.

Re: Which usenet client do you use?
Binary News Reaper 2 => pretty good ;-)

Re: Which usenet client do you use?
