Why do atleast 100s of people on TL download even the worst movies

If you sort the xvid movies on TL by completed, apart from 4 or 5 movies almost all have been downloaded more than a 100 times. And this includes movies which are not just underrated and ill-publicised but even the crappiest independent ones from 1980s which dont even have 20 votes on imdb.

Are this many people actually watching these movies or are these just people grabbing to seed and increase their ratio or what?

i see movies grabbed under 100 times. also, downloading a whole movie has more of a chance of lowering not raising their ratio. i'm sure they watch the movies they download. to increase their ratio they should download a file and seed that one file not download the entire rls unless they want to watch it.

I am sure that they are either looking to seed, got confused or are just movie fans

It's mainly for seed purpose.

Because they can.

It still equates to less than 1% of the total number that could download it, so 1 in a 100 have a particular taste for a genre of a movie, not outside the realms of reality of the real world populace is it?

theres like a gjillion members ;)

everybody has different tastes .. not everybody likes mainstream hollywood movies..

and if its for seeding purpose , its always better to seed the popular ones not the crappiest that only few people downloads

For the same reason that they make millions at the box office - people have their own minds and their own opinions, and can form their own judgments on whether or not a flick is good, bad, or somewhere in between.

There are other opinions out there other than your own, you know.

RSS for seeding purposes. Probably guys with a seedbox. Kinda difficult to tell an RSS feed to check if a movie is good before downloading it. :)

Noone seem to have mentioned collectors.

Tl is filled whit people that collect stuff, that they "may" watch one rainy day.
As for seeding, i doubt it. It have to be easiest tracker on the planet to get a good ratio on. And some people actually watch a shit load of movies. Even if they dont have the best rating. And with around 200.000 users i dont think 100 downloads is alot.
