FTN problem

I'm not sure what caused it, but i can no longer get on my FTN account. it says 'log in failed'. i know that my account is still active, because i've had friends check for me. I was only ever able to access my account on my main home computer, not my laptop or any of the other computers i have. i just switched to a new router, and since than i haven't been able to get on it at all :(.

i have been on the irc support for the last few days, and i haven't been able to get a hold of any admins on there. does anyone have any suggestions or ways i could fix this??

Mayb the only way to fix ur problem is to i stay on their irc until u can get in touch with an admin...I think only the admin can help u with this strange prob.

for some reason my copy of Mirc keeps disconnecting me than re-connecting me like every 10 minutes too. are there any other good irc clients?

change login type into normal in profile

ftn staff will see your thread and help you.

altough if your friend can log in with your acc details, the problem should be on your side.

yea...i tried to recover my password, and it won't work

i think you have secure login ticked in your profil, that could be the problem. it allows you only to login from one location. the new router could have changed some authentification id.

take your router out of the loop, and connect your computer straight to your modem. If you can get in, its your router settings, if not, its your computer. I would start there so at least you can narrow down the problem and start troubleshooting.

Admins wont be able to help if you can log in from another location, unless your IP is ban'd, or your account is restricted to 1 ip, which I doubt

hmm...that secure log in seems like something i had checked....i will try to plug into my modem when i get back home.

that would have been my first guess, but since your friend was able to get in, that does not seem likely as the account would be tied to your previous IP (it may have changed with your new router, it does for me when I replace mine) and your friend would have the same issue as you when attempting the login.

i didn't have my friend log into my account, i just had him check to see if i was still a user, and it said i was.

As far as I remember secure login is on by default so it might be that. But although I have secure login on I can login from multiple locations. :huh:

While i am guessing. if you are getting error "login failed" it means your putting wrong pw in, because from my memory error for secure login thing is "your not allowed to login from his ip" or something like that. I suggest contacting staff, and getting your pass reset.

well i know my password is right, because i have my passwords saved on my computer, and its still the same ones. i've also typed it in, and i know its right. i will try to contact the staff later tonight when i'm done work.

alrite, i just tried to get on with using just my modem (no router) and still the same problem. :(. i'm missing precious time on ftn :(

don't worry. ftn staff checks the forum here quite often. you will be back in no time.

p.s. don't pm your username to strangers.

Have you tried both Http:// and Https:// and if you could not log in from home but were able
to long in from work, then maybe try deleting your cookies and see if that helps.

You could also try maybe using the recover.php option to recover your password and see if that works for you.

when i go try to access the site usin http nothin comes up...so i've been usin https fer the last bit. i never have been able to log in from work. just my one desktop computer at home.


Edit: hmm. i just tried to get onto ftn-support and it said "#ftn-support unable to join channel (address is banned)" is that meaning that my ip address is banned? or is mirc just screwing up?

Try connecting to IRC now. You were banned before because your connection kept dropping, but now you've been unbanned again.

ahh....is there away to stop my connection from dropping so much?

try recover with a double slash
eg after url//recover.php?id=....

yea...it would appear so....i don't know what that was all about, i thought that i had tried that before
