yes only for higher level :D i remeber them bcz they are my Phone Numbers and My Brother's Phone Number :P
dont think its a good idea to post if you use the same password.. i use different passwords, i just write it down on a peice of paper :) old school
I use randomly generated passwords for every single site I go to because it would be foolish to use the same password everywhere.
All of them are remembered by Firefox and I write down the most important ones. I regularly backup my passwords and other important things on a flash drive.
Firefox password exporter can be used to backup your passwords.
I use different passwords on every site, and in every email account too.
(it would be foolish to have the same one)
@ Flicker lol
@ tommy, any backup if paper is lost? and how do u remember all of those or your browser does the job for you?
@ mollusk, thanks for the link, but u don't mention that you use it so is it reliable?
edit: i just installed and removed it...doesn't seem to do good job with special character =/
I find that passwords are easier to remember if they a. are chinese phrases and b. include my chinese name in them.
Unless we have somehow met in one of my Chinese classes, you probably won't be able to guess it.
I keep my passwords in my head and pw protected rar on a flash drive in case I forget for some reason, which isn't hooked up to anything most of the time. And of course, they are all different passes!
They are all random, so it takes some time to memorize them, but once you use it a few times, you find patterns.
never really thought of that, i know all of my passwords :whistling i might just go back them up now, cause your scaring me. :)
Yes.
Use Access Manager.
Backup the database to a separate HDD on a weekly basis.
Yes, it's fairly reliable. The great thing about it is that not only can you import the passwords back into FF, but you can import them into KeePass (if you're on Windows.)
As a precaution, I basically backup my whole Firefox profile folder in addition to using the password exporter and store the info on my flash drive.
If your computer crashes you can either import the passwords or replace the Firefox profile folder with your old one. I usually replace the folder since it also contains extensions and preferences.
Create a load of passwords:
http://www.pctools.com/guides/passwo...&generate=true
Copy them to a text file.
For each tracker, copy the tracker url back to the text file as you use one of the passwords, save the text file before exiting.
Let firefox remember the password, but you also have a backup on your hard disk as well.
Save the text file to your removable drive (usb pen drive is great for this) and you can take & use them wherever you happen to be.
I use random passwords for all sites e.g. 65lm2cldv53wbu&Ni7
Keep them in notepad documents in two different places and copy/paste them from there when logging in
Only downside is that it's very hard to remember them in my head, but that's the prize of security I guess
mollusk, backing up the whole profile...i could use that :) thanks again
@ sarge, thanks...seems to be something that will suit me.
@ Blue_Skies, i think you should let ur browser memorize the pw...too much work to c & p pw while logging in, don't u think?
@ Forumas, ya if you have different nick...using same pass isn't much of problem.
I use a password manager which generates different PW for each site. It outfills the field when I login and backs up the data to a thumb drive. It also comes with a portable version of the program on the thumb drive in case i need to access a site away from home.
I use 4 different user names and 3 different emails. I also use random passwords on each of my better sites but I do use basically the same passwords on my sites people would be less likely to try and get from me. I keep it all on an excel document on a flash drive. The excel document contains the following. url:User Name: password:Email:abbreviation:tracker content: how many invites i have.
I just use roboforms, to generate and remember my passwords. I run roboforms off my data drive, so its safe from window based fails. All the same i might just do what my dad does and write them all down in book. most of my passwords when they aren't generated are just two or three random words plus a number. so there hard to guess unless you have a very random mind. :P
wh would anyone write it on a piece of paper? they could be lost in so many ways, just do what sgtmajor said, cause thats what i do to.
Actually it's pretty easy once you get used to it. I don't use my browser because I clear it completely from time to time. Also let's say some scriptkid with nothing better to do comes up with some exploit that compromises my browser. I prefer to keep my passwords out of others reach. A random titled notepad in some random document or program folder using abbreviations that only I understand does that ;)
Different password for every site of course backed up to a text file. I lost a hard drive this week so no way to make a backup of that file
KeePass: http://keepass.info/
at any site I signup it generate a random password... very long, very very complicated.
additionally I store it in firefox (I trust it... :P)
never heard of keepass. But sounds good. Thanks yayyyyyyy.
yes. different usernames and passwords for every tracker ?
how do i manage it ? its pretty complex actually
first i got to open a notepad , type it down and save it . time consuming but its worth it :|
whenever i sign up at a tracker i recover pass for once and that my pass ff remember for me i don't remember any pass
Yep, I use different passwords on all sites. My browser remember them all. If my browser loses the passwords, I just recover lol :P
I use 3 password only.....
Same nick in almost all of my trackers... " Planning to change this in my future trackers "
4 different email address...
I've used KeyPass for about a year; it generates and saves my usernames & pw's, and saves a backup automatically with one of it's addons. The firefox pw manager is great, but I do worry about losing that data
yes i use different passwords
i just remember them , i mean i don't use anything to remember them
I use different passwords for everything on the internet, whether it be my email, bank account, FST login, or torrent sites. An elephant never forgets. :)
i store all my passwords in a neat excel spreadsheet and rar it and password protect it. one copy on pc one on my usb
An easy trick is to come up with some random string of characters (say h5rjf8) that you memorize... then add some combination that is unique to each site to this string (say use the last two letters of the domain name before and after your string)... using this site as example your password is lh5rjf8k... now, you have a unique and random password for each site you log into that you won't easily forget...
There was an article over at Lifehacker about creating and remembering unique passwords, very similar to herb's suggestion. I didn't read the entire post before, but after re-reading it just now I see it's actually a damn good ideaQuote:

While SgtMajor's tutorial gets to the point, it is lacking in user security. Saving a password to a text file is NOT safe.
I recommend creating a password with Extreme Password Generator Pro, which is completely portable program (leave-no-trace, flash drive friendly). And, of course, create a password of at east 20 characters. Also, it is recommended to create a unique password, and username for that matter, for each tracker/forum/email/etc, if only for optimal security.
Steganos Locknote is a program that is completely portable, consists of one tiny .exe file, password-protected (protect your passwords with a password!), and is encrypted by that password.
Details from the Download site:
Yes, and be sure not to forget that one password for LockNote! And label the stored passwords for that matter!Quote:
Why use Steganos LockNote?
- Store your most valuable notes as a LockNote
Hide your serial numbers, passwords, phone numbers and everyday notes in a safe place. Your informations will be encrypted using a password and most modern AES 256bit encryption technology.- Secure, yet simple
Just double-click a LockNote and enter your password to access your text files as usual.- No installation required
Move LockNotes wherever you want, as often as you want. A LockNote document does not require much more hard drive space than an unencrypted document.- Encrypt existing text files in no time at all
Simply drag and drop existing text files on a LockNote window: they will be encrypted automatically.- Open and free
LockNote is open source and is based upon open source technologies, e.g. the certified CryptoPP program library for strong encryption.
my brain
i write it down type it enough times then i remember and it's allways different and unquie from the previous password i suppose that way if something went missing i know i'm not to blame to a certain degree
