I'm a member of a lot of private torrent sites, and I shudder when thinking about the days before private trackers, where I would have a leave my computer on all night to download the latest episodes of 24, and 50 Kb/s was stuff of legend. But, sometimes, a private tracker just doesn't have what you need.
Take, for example, my quest to find the early season 2 episodes of Brothers and Sisters. I'm sure, when the full season has aired, it will be easy to find a pack and download the episodes there, but coming in the show late into the season has it's troubles. Every one of my private trackers has the later episodes, but I can't find episodes 1-4 anywhere.
I guess that's the problem with private trackers. Everyone downloads the stuff so quickly, and seeds for a few weeks, but after a while only a handful of people download the stuff, the seeding stops, the torrents get removed, and us slower than the rest suffer.
That's where public trackers come in handy. They never leave us out cold. I checked Mininova, and they have all the episodes! In fact, I think they still have everything that was ever put on there. The speed isn't the best, and it still says it will take a day or so. They even have the 1st and only season of the excellent Jack and Bobby. Sure, it will probably take weeks and weeks to download, but for us without BitMeTV it's our only option
So, which public tracker would you say was the best? I'm getting decent speeds from Mininova, and the selection seems quite good. I hate torrenyspy though. It's just so... messy. I used to get everything off Suprnova.org, but I haven't used it at all since it's been back.
