Dario Franchetti won Indy Series, winning the Indy 500 on the way.
Lewis Hamilton was 2nd in the F1 Championship.
How in the name of fuck could Hamilton be awarded the British Competition Driver of the Year and the International Racing Driver of the year.
No offence to his achievements like, fan-tastic but how does that work.

its obvious, hes very young, very british, and in his first championship came second, oh and he easily could have won it, he beat alonso and that other guy many times, so he's one of the best in the world, and his age, his age i tell you!

your right, but he got that award for a reason, my guess is that he was a very strong competitor at the F1 championship on his debut, and he's British, these days if your British and lose at a world champ event, your the hero nevertheless.
Franchetti is British and he won the series he was in.

I dont know much about it but I'm sure you cant compare Indy and F1.
Isn't Indy going round and round an oval track but F1 has corners or something?
I would have thought, if that was the case, that coming 2nd in the F1 would probably be harder than 1st in Indy.. due purely to the tactics needed (Not to mention using those F1 steering wheels).
However, if the guy won then i would agree he should have been recognised at the awards... its no mean feat. (And almost unheard of for a Brit to win anything these days :P )

i dont beleive your stumped on this one, F1 is more popular, technical, and harder to win a championship at imo, its the premiership of all racing comps, no wonder Hamilton, at his age and on his debut finishing 2nd won that award thingie.
Or losing, as it's known.
Driving for a team who cheated and were docked all of their points and got a huge fine.
As opposed to the bloke who came first. Or won, as we like to call it.
I know what I think the greater achievement is.

Looked very official tho' with all the big hitters from the race World there.
Franchetti was one of the nominees for both of the awards Hamilton won.
