Swedvd is pretty good. Donate 100 swedish crowns = 15 dollars and you get 50GB upload + 100 bonuspoints you can chop off 20 gigs from your amount downloaded (or buy 24hrs free leech with)
if you want to stick with torrents then i think that torrentleech ahould be your choise, you get 3 months of this for 25 euros, plus is a site with great speed and content
btw p2l is lame and you would get best invest profit if you rent a dedi and create a buffer of a couple of terabytes, if you want to donate go and do it, but sites like tl fl bs sct scc etc seems to make proofit from you and that is unethic from certains points of view

All those options are already mentioned in this thread but I wanted to put some firm data together so you can get a good comparison. Which option you should choose is not that easy, because your usage behavior can make one thing more profitable than another one. Quite simply said: if you plan to download more than 200GB per month then you're be better off with an unlimited offer. If you download less, think about p2l like BitSoup because the credit will remain until you use it up.
Should you choose donating to a tracker or rather use a Usenet provider? Both have advantages and drawbacks which you should best experience for yourself. Just one thing: both TL and BitSoup are somewhat general scene 0day trackers, the same cannot be said for the Usenet. While many groups limit themselves to scene releases the offered content is much more versatile, one good example are many different music newsgroups that can - over time of course - replace the need for a music tracker.
Finally, there's the idea of renting a seedbox which is not really what you asked for. You'd need to pay a bit more than 20$ to get a good deal but generally speaking this proves to be a better value for your money than most p2l or unlimited offers. The largest drawback is that in order to reap the benefits you will need to work for it, by seeding popular content over a length of time.

Most bang for your buck is definetly Usenet a.k.a. Newsgroups. Your download speeds are always maxed out and you don't have to upload anything. For a $15/month unlimited account I can download at least 3 TB on my connection.

I vote for Bitsoup. $25 for 400gb is hard to beat. Most of the d/l speeds are pretty fast, but occasionally they are a little slow. Overall, they have a good selection and a supportive staff, and a friendly community of over 100,000.

Well, one can hardly compare a real topsite with some newsgroup account. I grant you however that the ftp way is ever the classic one and it's easiest on the hardware too. Any filesharing protocol can crash your router and parity checks from newsgroup downloads can be a real pain. The only issue I see is that gaining access to proper topsites (and not those that are outrageous enough to call themselves a topsite) is certainly not for everybody, else they wouldn't live very long ;)
