They want to get a sertain site.
Collectiors their goal is usually to have all the sites in the Rating thread.
They think its fun, they just do it as a hobby. A way to kill some time, and are always trying to get higher rated trackers.

I can see why people might trade for the first one to get into. After all the torrent community is private. Some folks just simply dont know people on the internet to get in. Therfore they trade or buy invites to get in. In those circumstances I think its ok. But once you get into a good tracker its up to you to become part of the community. It takes time to get to know people but once you do I think you will find that you can get almost all invites for free.
That has been my experience anyways
in my opinion, if somebody really want to get to higher tracker while no one willing to give the invite for free, maybe the only way is to trade, because these day it would very hard to find someone to trust, so it would be very difficult decision to giveaway a high level tracker invite, causing many ppl will have to trade
