Now how am I supposed to know who's here and who's not? :o
Hello Tite-wad, you beat me to it. I was just going to post the same question. There has been a lot of "spring cleaning," I think.
:P Well hopefully it's just been lifted for a dusting then.
That's much too important of a feature to remove permanently!
Yes i miss it too, hope it is not permanent. :(
I think The Admins has disabled it to save some queries.

It's not the same without the huge list of names...
If its benefiel to keep the board running..who cares...good ...if their not striping the board..other things are going to have to go,like sigs and avtrs.
Have a look here, tite-wad. :)
How many times have they tryed this and it did not work before?Do not think it is going to help now?
Maybe somebody should bump some old threads of them trying this and they will see.
Hmm, as the saying goes "If at first you don't succeed, try and try and try and try again... :PQuote:

I'd rather the sigs be dumped than the user list. <_<Quote:

How do we know which mods to PM when we need help if their names aren't displayed?
That's what I keep telling my wife, but she insists I should try Viagra. :(Quote:

You can disable avatars and signatures from here.
BOT
What do you use the members on line list for ?
I'm just interested because I never look at it. I don't really see any point.
I agree however that we could lose sigs without too great a problem. However avatars are a must.
First it was the guestroom, then the members list and now talk of not having sigs too.....why stop there and have members at all?
I have to agree.....make us all guest.Quote:

If it makes the board work, then it's worth doing.
It's been going really well today. For the last couple of weeks the board crashed constantly and was slow when you were on.
I like it the way it is just now. It works.
If that question was directed at me JP, I use it as I stated before - to locate a mod if I need assistance.Quote:

I also like to be able to see which of my cohorts are here - and where - without having to go on a random hunt through all the rooms.
No, then it's time to get some extra server bandwidth and maybe find a more stable server.

I agree, if that's an option BOT. It may not be.Quote:

I would rather we pruned until that could be achieved. No point in having all the bells and whistles if it doesn't work most of the time.

We do need to see a members list for the reasons you said. What do we do if we need to PM a mod?How do we know who is online or not?
This needs to be addressed.
It really does...........Quote:

How often do you guys have to PM a mod.
What's the worst that can happen here. Someone makes an inappropriate post.
Is it possible to make the online list just be "Online Mods" would that do it.
MOD / ADMIN - that seems like a reasonable compromise. Then the chaps that need to speak to an adult can get you.
As far as I know....that's not possible.Quote:

@ JP - I probably PM a mod every other day to request they delete a double(or triple or quadruple)-post that goes in when I reply in a thread. :(
And as I mentioned, the "Search by Member" and "Last Click" options are very useful to me. Perhaps not essential - but convenient nonetheless. ;)
Lets see how this one pans out. I'm sure that Jon/VB know what they're doing.
If the problems are server realated and need donations to subsidise this then I for one would be happy to pass my cash on to help.
Of course we could ask for a poll!?! What's wrong with members seeing who is online. It's not just about knowing which mod's are online after all. Tite-wad made that point quite clear I thought. In any case the forum is still not running OK. I have had exactly the same problems this evening as most evenings. The pruning is not working.
I do have to PM either a mod or admin quite alot.If there is no members available list then what is the point in being able to PM anyone in the first place. :blink:Quote:

Here's a thought....
For those who want to be listed;
In the lounge, create a sign in/ sign out thread. WITH the understanding that any other posts will be deleted. Post your name and your likely location only. Then edit that one post as needed.
Each post will appear with the edited by tag and will show the time and date of that edit. Some may forget to edit themselves out, it's not a perfect solution, But it's a solution nonetheless.
Or better Add all members to Your MSN Messenger, ICQ account or whatever You use :)

 Do you think a Mod would have any more info than anyone else? :blink:Quote:

Not this one at least!
Haven't seen a single official post on the topic and I've just started reading these unofficial topics, so I'm probably even more in the dark than you on this one.

at least we aint the only ones wondering where it went.
doesnt bother me that much, but it was just nice to know who was on and were mods were around to clean up. :D
It's probably taken offline by Paul or VB to look if it helps solving the Too Many Connection problem.
I doubt very much if it will be permanently. :)
@ balamm: Good idea. Maybe you can create a topic in About Our Website for the Mods and Admins too, and close it. (I'm off, by the way)
Good idea balamm but I've got the feeling that it will just create more unessacary work for you mods. Cant we just not suffer this for a few days guys and see what happens guys?
Fuzman is talking sense, as usual.Quote:

I didn't demand that they bring it back... just asked where it went and stated why I missed it. :(Quote:

Adults don't really care. We are responsible for our own actions.
Agreed.Quote:

I think it's the handful of Crybabies http://forums.ffhorizon.com/images/smilies/bawling.gif who feel the need to whine to the Mods about some unimportant post which they think negatively effects their lives in some way.

Tchau!
Hmmm.... <_<
