If you know what kind of music you like, i suggest you go to a tracker with "your" material, and stay away from What and Waffles and other if you are genuily intrested in exploring some new music. Be active in a forum, and download some discographies. The easiest way to find new music got to be through friends, hear a song at your friends, go home and download the enitre discograpy...
Get off the comp and just listen to what you just downloaded and enjoy :)

BTW if you like rap/hip-hop do NOT watch MTV. They will corrupt your mind.
Maybe they are better for other genres but for rap/hip-hop don't go there.

those two only together already have over 100albums =D
so yea, i just mass download all those albums that looks like "VA - Dance hit 2008" and things like that =]

Then just listen to the music in movies and tv shows. I find tons of music that way.

I usually find new music through last.fm, music tracker forums, 0day trackers torrents, friends, or erm, social networking groups, music communities.. and I also try to browse people's music recs. :D
last.fm has been a great source for finding new music, 'left of center' on sirius radio is nice too :)
Last fm and pandora though they're gonna start blocking the UK soon apparently so I probably won't be able to use that much longer

Arg I can't stand listening to the radio. I have to listen to this radio station at work which keeps going on about how it plays 'more music variety' than everyone else. It plays exactly the same songs every damn night and it drives me insane. I think it's better to go out and find music yourself rather than waiting for the radio to play something you like
