i had maxtor HD 250 GB but i tryed to clean my pc i just found out my HD make so much noise and take big time to open
and there is partion cant open it its partion D
and the partaion C when i am trying to open it its take long time to open and make alot of noise
so what the soulation now
1- do i have to formating the whole HD?
or
2- format drive D only
or
3- throw that HD in junk:cry:
i'm gong with option 3 especially if teh noise it's making is clicking sounds.
noise as in a stone in a empty tin can hmmm trash time buy another
if all data is backed-up try format first, if that doesn't work try deleting and recreating partitions. use full format while formating.
obviously leave option 3 for the end :)

You should start backing up your data ASAP.
lol, i've got this 250gb seagate in my rig as i type and have had it for going on 2 years and it has been clicking since the day i took it out of it's box. sometimes mild clicking.. sometimes crazy clicking to the point where i think it's gonna blow up. was too lazy to take it out and wanted to see how long it would last. well, 2 years is pretty long. :)

2 of my old maxtor drives (in an old computer) make loud grinding noises when they first start up, for about 10 minutes. They've been doing this for years. No problems with them other than the noise although i always used to worry they'd go one day.
Yes, hard drives do naturally make noise but when someone comments that it's making "a lot of noise" my assumption is that the noise is above and beyond the norm.Quote:

Apparently, none of the data on your Maxtors is important enough to worry about, which is fine, but then I have to wonder- why bother carrying it at all?
the problem its not about the noise the problem is the drive (D) dose not open and i have to restart or it will be freez for ever and drive (C) take about 10 mins to open but the other drives is working so well any way i got new HD western now and about the Maxtors i think i will format the whole drive now and we will c what happen but thank all of u for helping
Please let us know whether reformatting helps or not.
Download UBCD, burn it to a CD, and boot from it. Use it to run a hard drive test such as Salvation.
