Mine as I would imagine most peoples here are custom built.
I own a Compaq laptop.
the apple :P
I assembled mine piece by piece.
custom built, all my 4 pcs.
i refuse to buy pre-assembled PCs, as u always get ripped off or pay for useless windows licenses etc etc. what a waste of money.
+1
agree, usually people with less knowledge of computer hardwares buy brand computers and pay more and they always have a justification! and that is the warranty !! well they don't know that in a year or so the price of their hardwares drop to 1/4 th of their orginal price and those brand companies out there are more than happy to fix your broken parts and that is because you have bought a warranty package 10 times more expensive than that part it self!!!
I have a gateway and custom built and my next will also be custom.
My first PC was an eMachines and after two weeks or so I opened it up to add RAM and thought "Is this it? I could make this!".
Everything since has been self-assembled.
This doesn't mean I have a problem with manufactured PCs...on the contrary, I think that below @$500 you're better off buying rather than building.
As an individual consumer you lack the purchasing power of the OEMs and they can sell some pretty nice stuff for very little money.
Custom build, prebuilts like hp are a just a waste of time unless you're using it strictly for web browsing and msn.
I find with the proprietory systems they get you one way or the other . No video slot to upgrade , only two memory slots etc. I don't have a problem buying used but never a new system .
I always go to the whitebox stores as your choices are endless , " you " config how you like it . Better quality and upgrades are painless .
i have emachine right now but that will be might be wifes and will for sure build a custom
My very first system was a 386 running windows 3.1. I think HP made it.
That's the only store bought system I ever had, custom builds ever since.
I've got an HP for no particular reason, and a Sony laptop
i use an ultraportable.
sinclair ZX81 3,25 Mhz
1 kB RAM
8 KB ROM
Cassette Recorder

I fabricated my own components then assembled them.
:P
make your own =) i made mine and i'm happy with it.
mine is HP, although I've upgraded most of it by now
i build mine and others. preferred that way. :)
My personal computer are Apple, Dell, and HP. I custom built my own a few years back, which was a nice experience, but I find it's easier to get a good deal on a PC through one of Dell's promotions than it would ever be to build your own. For instance, my parents were able to get a new computer with a widescreen LCD for $400. The LCD, priced at newegg, was $200 alone.
Made my own forget some pre-assembled garbage
Yeah, I like to build my own. The results of the poll to date are not surprising.
custom built
agree custom build and nothing else
Apple is the best company that makes computer
Custom build. :D
I don't buy branded one... Because I believe in assembling system.. I am good at hardware.
lol
Mine are all self-assembled.
Consists of parts from Gigabyte, AMD, eVGA, Seagate, Western Digital, Asus, Arctic Cooling, Corsair, Zalman, and Crucial.
Custom made. My aunt had a branded one and she had a bit of problems with it and fought with it about 6 months to get it fixed. Talk about poor customer support. Eventually she got way better model for the same price and a quite powerful free laptop.
Assembled PC's are the way to go. Cheaper & more choices. The best part, no junk softwares preloaded.
custom ftw. except laptops
the apple
Custom pc rule just as long as you know how to build em
I Made my own brand a custom build!!
used to use CompaQ, but now using self-assembled ones :D
i probably get a Sony VAIO laptop though
