Hello there, it may sound noobish, I mean, I know how to increase ratios, just that I want to know what you guys out there do. I'm interested to see how fellow torrenters are doing it. :D
Me, I just do the basic, I just seed and upload a few .isos and .csos if it's a game site :D
Combination of uploading new torrents that members may like, partial seeding, and most important just seeding period for long periods of time.
How do you do partial seeding? I'm sorry because I'm still kind of new at this :P
Either seed files you have already downloaded from another tracker somewhere else. Or when you click to add the torrent in utorrent a screen should apear with lots of ticks click on select none and just tick a few of the files and click ok thats partial seeding remember popular files are very good games/xxx and the hyped new movies due for release these will help you keep a good ratio even if you download the whole lot a good xxx you can seed forever people always download them

Oh yes i forgot to inject that piece of information. Always aim to seed your torrents to a 1:1 ratio. I know it can't always be done but strive for it to be done 97% of the time. Also if you can, leave your computer on 24/7. Don't worry it takes up more electricity to shut it down and start-up every day then to just leave it on and maybe restart it every 2-3 days or so. Or unless you just installed some new windows update or software of course. But i think you get my point.
4gb torrents don't kill your memory i have only had problems with real time scanning antivirus programs sophos in my case was the problem a utorrent message would apear saying disk overload 100% also 4gb files take ages to seed back on a slow connection but if there is lots of leechers you will have no problems i just download a few rar files and the sample included to help builed the ratio.The sample alone can be seeded 20+ ratio if jumped on early. if you do have problems just increase your memory size in the utorrent setting overrise automatic cache size this fixed my problem 32 meg is default double or tripple that should be fine. i don't believe people now days still use only 256mb sticks in their computers

Well if you can't afford the electric to run a computer i would not be using private torrent sites and just leech on public sites. ~Or you could just pay for newgroups and you can download 24/7 on them untill you reach your monthly limits in gbs you can even pick a package to have unlimited so you never worry about how much you download and you have nothing to seed back :)

The difference with newsgroups is that you have to pay (most of the times), and then you don't have to worry about ratios or seeding back, if this is a problem for you. You can just download whatever you want non stop.
If you're planning on getting a seedbox, I would recommend you better pay for newsgroups.
I don't download much too, just some mp3s and stuff for my PSP other than that, I guess I don't need newsgroups :P

Ways to improve your ratio:
.Seed 24/7 ALL what you downloaded.
.Partial dl and partial seeding of large but popular torrent. This can only be done on torrent with multiple files.
.For general tracker sites; partial download porn and seed back.
.For site with Freeleech torrents go for the FL even if you do not need it. Seed back for buffer. Choose those FL torrent with lesser seeders.
What you should not do.
. Hit and run.
. DL large (popular) torrent if you do not have a fast connection. you will not be able to seed back. Be sure you have enough buffer before doing this.
. Try and cheat. A big NO NO.
. Upload.
I have slow connection but have good ratio in most trackers except What ( but still above the min.)
Many sites are against p2l (pay to leech) so this is not the best strategy. Personally, I don't like the philosophy behind p2l and try to avoid sites that use this method as a funding tool.Quote:

What I do is to seed something previously downloaded from other site. One of the last DVDr or episodes.

The majority of trackers have scripts as said before, and Waffles has a very good one as I could read, the same on ScT, BitMeTV, BlackCats-Games and a very extensive etc.
Besides, thatīs not fear at all, the whole thing of torrenting is based on sharing. :dry:

Actualy, I don't care about High buffers, I just want to keep my ratios >1 and be active at some forums.
I grab new torrents that will be popular just to seed back if there is nothing I want to watch.

I love waffles so much and I'm positive that I will try to stay there as long as possible, and I know that cheating it would ban me :P
Partial seeding and using rss is a good way to increase ratios. I myself use mIRC on my seedbox with a autodownload script thats starts downloading a torrent the second it is announced in the irc pre channel.
I personally have you can increase your ratio dramatically if you seed those free leech torrents.. The ones which don't count on your download but only on your upload..
seed as much as i can.
seed till you get the best ratio of that file as said above!
Just like most, I either jump on all the new popular torrents. Partially download it(about 20mb or so), and then let it seed. Or I like to download all the files off of newsgroups(since most shit hits there first), then just reseed it to the sites. That way no download amount goes onto your account.
Plus, I"m not a collector. I don't have ten to twenty sites(by my choice, there's no need to have more than just a few). So with the four to five sites that I use, and focusing on each one a couple days at a time, you can get a nice buffer this way.
The way I do it is get a single large torrent that is very popular and seed for a really long time, that way you get a good ratio. The other ways mentioned like getting a torrent from an alternate tracker and helping seed the same torrent on a private tracker works good also.Quote:
