It's very realism-based. If you like that sort of thing it's brilliant.
lol i live in los angeles. i just dont watch much tv. most of the shows that i watch are already done for the season
The Wire is the best show on tv...and it's not even close.
i just downloaded season 1. im 3 epidsodes into it and it's great....kinda like the shield but alot better

I was in the dark untill recently I saw light at end of the tunnel and watched 5 seasons straight. Great series :)
It is a bit slow moving series so its not for those who want gunfire and explosions every 2 seconds. Very addictive.

It really is a GOOD show! (if you like gritty crime dramas). I love how they weave all the various sub-plots together. Bad thing is, this is the final season.
Yup. Must download. You can virtually find season 1-4 on almost any General 0-day tracker. Also The Wire is currently in it's final season, season 5, 10 episodes. All i can do now is wait for season 3 of Dexter on Showtime. HBO is all dried up after The Wire ends. I was on the set near where they film The Wire. My aunt lives in Baltimore and some of my peoples knows Melvin Williams (Avon Barksdale is based on him). The setting, conditions, and crime is just like the way the series portrays it. It doesn't behoove anyone to live in those gritty conditions.Quote:

Currently at Season 5 Episode 9 if you have HBO (On Demand). They show every new episode one week in advance (On Demand only). There are only 1-2 episodes left. 10 episodes total.

The best hbo series. I'd be totally bereft when season 5 ends. Best to watch each season all at a go. Completely absorbing.

I am a "fresh" addict of this show and must admit: it is great! As S01 aired in 2001 (I believe), I understand the 4:3 ratio. I am currently underway collecting all seasons and it seems that all through season 4 are 4:3. Am I missing something here?

The show is a rare masterpiece.
by far the best show i have ever watched....nothing else even comes close in completeness and character/plot development.
in the end everything came back full circle and the way the show finished was absolutely fine with me.

FANTASTIC show. Don't let anything about the basic premise put you off. It is unbelievably good tv :)
