What sites are so irreplacable that you would'nt give a invite to a buddy?
What Track's are so Great that you would not even risk giving out a invite because it is irreplaceable?
Example- If i wanted to invite a close friend to track that was strict and overall great, I would hesitate giving the invite to he-she until they worked on some less strict sites! Another if the person you invited for some reason does not log in enough- a lot of neg things can happen to lose privileges or get banned 4 life:noes:..
unless you signed up through open signups then inviting anyone is a possible burden down the road for the person nice enough to give you that invite...

Re: What sites are so good that you would'nt give a invite to a buddy?
wtf is this spam, why do you care? to make you happy ill answer: if it was my friend, i'd invite him regardless.
-
Re: What sites are so good that you would'nt give a invite to a buddy?
Depends on the buddy. I have one that I invited a few places and he is on the verge of being banned on all of them for low ratio. So of course I will not be inviting him elsewhere.
If he wants stuff from now on, he will either have to get it of public trackers, open signup trackers or directly from me.

Re: What sites are so good that you would'nt give a invite to a buddy?
/me unzips his fly
ya what now.
what kind of friend are you if you arent going to invite your friend to a site you are one.
I take my friends with me to the top. No point in being at the top all alone.
-
Re: What sites are so good that you would'nt give a invite to a buddy?
Definitely depends on the friend, and if I can trust them. There are a lot of sites I wouldn't give an invite to a friend that I just think could keep a good ratio.
-
Re: What sites are so good that you would'nt give a invite to a buddy?
yeh, i do the same, i must say i "feed" 3 friends of mine all i can, cuz they are also hardcore DL'ers like me.
They're awaiting for me to get some waffles invites (25gb up is a lot for me, a casual music downloader), as i got 2 of them to what.cd already... a couple more TTi and a revTT and hdbits and i've nearly finished feeding all my "family". :D (they don't care for sct or ftn etc etc).
btw, the biggest success amongst my friends was inviting them to STMusic, TL and xbox-sky (told them signups were open). so they don't really know or care much about these levels' thingy.
It's a lot funnier when everyone is downloading a lot, and can share tracker experiences.

Wow, that seemed hostile. It's a legitimate question (maybe he's just curious and interested in what people have to say on the issue), and it's not spam just because you think it is a useless or stupid question. If you don't like it, you are free ignore the thread and not answer the question.
My answer: There is no tracker I wouldn't invite a friend to, but after a bad experience inviting a friend who was a relative n00b at torrenting, I would make sure he understood how important it is to keep up a decent ratio and how to do so.
-
Re: What sites are so good that you would'nt give a invite to a buddy?
It depends on my friends experience with torrenting, but at the end of the day he'll still be my friend and torrenting is what it is.

TP635 has cut the throat of this topic ... TPB reminds me those beautiful days when i started torrenting......:)

Re: What sites are so good that you would'nt give a invite to a buddy?
that would be the mango tracker!

Re: What sites are so good that you would'nt give a invite to a buddy?
Friendship and Torrenting are pretty different things. I rather to give invites to trustable guys that i meet in tracker forums than give to my "real friends" because they are great friends but have poor internet/torrenting skills.
-
Re: What sites are so good that you would'nt give a invite to a buddy?
i've given my friend a ftn invite but refuse to invite him to sct

Totally agreed.

Re: What sites are so good that you would'nt give a invite to a buddy?
hmm i don't see the logic here? the better the site, the more eager i would be to invite my buddies.. so the question you should ask is "what sites are bad enough that you wouldn't invite your buddies"
-
Re: What sites are so good that you would'nt give a invite to a buddy?
I think the real question pone is raising is? What sites should I not give a friend an invite to, if I don't want to risk getting my account to get disabled. Also I think he just wants an overall general opinion maybe? For the future. I don't think there is any site that good, that I wouldn't want to invite my friend to.
The question I would raise to myself is "Would my friend understand the ratio system, read the faq, rules, and comprehend them, also be a great member, who could contribute and make the community better"? Only one of my real friends grasps the concept of torrenting. The rest have no clue or business, involving themselves in the BT World.

Re: What sites are so good that you would'nt give a invite to a buddy?
yeah, i agree that no connection with friendship and invites, if the one has a good rate for connection then he/she should have one

That my friend is the spirit of the scene! Too bad many others dont have it

Re: What sites are so good that you would'nt give a invite to a buddy?
I have one (or maybe even two) legitimate BT-user fans that I'd share any of my invites with. However, for the others, I probably wouldn't invite them into the top sites because they wouldn't be able to fit into the atmosphere. They have to be exposed to lesser trackers first, if you will. For example, if a newbie is invited to FTN, they wouldn't be able to understand the intense sharing goal of the site without having ratios in place to help them.
-
Re: What sites are so good that you would'nt give a invite to a buddy?
always would take a buddy as far as i could. he got me started and i have made some strides but he is content with what he has. he turned me down on more than 1 occasion but i ask him first everytime i come up.
-
Re: What sites are so good that you would'nt give a invite to a buddy?
I used to think that I'd give an invite out to any RL friend that knew how to use bittorrents and would promise to be good on the trackers they became a member of. Unfortunately my boyfriend and I recently invited one of our RL friends to What.CD because he was super eager to get into a good music tracker since Oink went down.
A month later I catch wind that the rest of my invites were taken away because our friend didn't log in for over a month and got himself disabled.
Thank God it wasn't to Waffles or I would have tracked him down and given him a swift kick in the nuts, which I'm sure his GF wouldn't be too appreciative of. Since then he's kinda been avoiding us. I wonder why?!
Needless to say I don't know who I can trust anymore with that recent inccident being a prime example of "WTF"? :(

Re: What sites are so good that you would'nt give a invite to a buddy?
Agree, just if that buddy doesn't log in ect- then maybe a ban? that w- suck! Plus what about the person who invited you to the-? basically putting their status @ risk too.As the above post reads. grimms is right ...Some sites are irreplaceable-hard to keep ratio up-ect and i trust my buddies but do not know if they know enough to handle certain things-dht-little things that are in the rules-some people just want to get in and dl all they can, I would have to walk them thru the rules.I am stingy. Lol.

Re: What sites are so good that you would'nt give a invite to a buddy?
I would invite my friends as well but they have to learn and know what they are doing. I had one friend that just wanted to start right out with bitmetv . That was a little much for a total noob... Made him learn the ropes first. He did thank me in the end. This prevented him from getting banned from great trackers and later regretting it when he finally figured it all out.. ;)
-
Re: What sites are so good that you would'nt give a invite to a buddy?
That is my point, but even if your friend had a ratio of 20. at Td or something, some sites do not put up with some things that others do. You want them to see what you see but no way would you take
There are many reasons to why this thread is relevant! I think you are right with that decision Kapone.....:badrod:
Have a couple n mind... but will not say the names, a simple thing such as that can get a friend in trouble,if they are drunk.lol. or if your friend decides to let his girl play w- his account or his other buddies, That is why i do not do giveaways, i know it is selfish but it is not clear if they are allowed anywhere and track rules say no to most so i respect that n will not break it!

Re: What sites are so good that you would'nt give a invite to a buddy?
I'm with Kapone . I start my friends off on easy to seeds sites like TD or RevTT to teach them the ropes but once they get the hang of it, understand the ropes, and are confident in what they are doing. I bring them straight to the top. I mean after all these are you friends. They are the ones that get you home safe after a night of drinking. They are the ones that help you forget/drink away a broken heart. They are the ones that show up at 2 AM in the morning no matter what the problem. There is nothing I would deny a friend. Why should bittorrent be one of them? But I do admit I help my friends out with ftp and seedbox axx. I don't want to see them fail.

You have to be careful with Real Life friends. I have invited a few in the past, to good BT trackers like Oink. The biggest problems my friends have trouble understanding, is the ratio system, and how and why, you need to seed (Leave your computer on basically, with files seeding). Also logging in is quite profound as well. Is it really hard to log in, once every 30 days at least? It's weird. I didn't really start dispersing my invites out as much, until I came upon this site on October 27th 2007.
But now i'm going back to my old stingy ways, of hoarding my invites. Unless I come across a very trustworthy member, who I think deserves an invite. Real Life friend or not. Just be careful and make sure, your "Real Life" friends understand the concepts, behind Bittorrent, before you give them an invite. Remember your responsible for their actions if their apart of your Invite Tree.

Re: What sites are so good that you would'nt give a invite to a buddy?
i started "training" my friends, using torrents from TPB, just to understand how torrenting works.
Then i got them to bitsoup and filelist, for them to get the hang of fulfilling ratios (sites with lots of leechers, easy to keep a ratio). Then, when i saw they were "ready" for it, the big fat invites came along. (they all became power users at pussytorrents quite quickly :D :D)
after all, as chiefosceola said, they're the ones you go drink with, pickup girls, play poker, etc etc. Torrents aren't more important than that.

Re: What sites are so good that you would'nt give a invite to a buddy?
I have invited a few friends
1. OiNK, Waffles and another one. Good user on all (was PU+ on OiNK when it was taken down)
2. OiNK, Waffles. Good user on both
3. OiNK. Deleted for inactivity with terrible ratio and under a GB up/down
4. TTi. Exellent user. Waffles, not doing too good but improving
5. TTi. Had some trouble at first but getting there
6. Demonoid, good user. TTi, terrible ratio, won't listen. Will be banned very soon. Waffles. Terrible ratio and went past free zone (+5GB down). Will be banned soon probably.
So like I said in first post. Depends on the friend. And all of them knew how to use torrents before I invited them. Some just weren't to familiar with ratio.

Re: What sites are so good that you would'nt give a invite to a buddy?
None. Contrary to popular belief, the internet is not serious business.
-
Re: What sites are so good that you would'nt give a invite to a buddy?
I think I forgot to adjust for the age of a majority (if most trackers polls are to be believed). I think I judge friends by those that I've known since high school and those met in the military. I think friends in your teens and early twenties is a little different those that you still have in your thirties. I think it all is on perspective on what you consider a friend. In my opinion a friend is greater find than anything you will find on the internet or on a torrent site. Sure I would hate to lose a tracker, but as far as I'm concerned, a friend is something that cannot be replaced by anything in cyberspace.
-
Re: What sites are so good that you would'nt give a invite to a buddy?
not for me or anyone i know(i download a mp3 here n there, so-?) but i do not think you are correct with that 1.

Re: What sites are so good that you would'nt give a invite to a buddy?
I've got one true friend left. I've known him forever and I think I'd only invite him to a tracker he would enjoy using almost every day. At first I worried about him keeping his ratio up, but he far exceeded my expectations.
I brought him into torrents a few months ago and he's quickly surpassed my ratios and torrents uploaded...
Possibly b/c he mainly uses two trackers for porn and the most recent xvid movies (cams, etc.) and I use several trackers for my more divergent interests and download much larger files with less leechers...
But in any event, I'd invite him anywhere that I think he'd use, if I ever get an invite to giveaway.
So those of you who have a good friend that you're wary of, give'em a chance. :D

Re: What sites are so good that you would'nt give a invite to a buddy?
Always invite friends (trustworthy ones) no matter how "high" the tracker is. Like fatcat mentioned, no point in being there alone :)

Why would one have someone they consider "untrustworthy" as a friend. Y'all just confuse me.

Honestly? It's not the fact that you can't trust them. It's whether they understand what BT tracker FAQ, and rules mean. Also how to apply them. Johnny I think what you mean't to say is make sure said "friend" knows what to do when it comes to bittorrent and the rules and procedures associated with the BT world. I agree with chiefosceola though. Anyone in my cypher who I call a friend, is someone I know I could trust, or your just an associate in my eyes, not a friend.

lol maybe some "keep your friends close, but your enemies even closer" kinda thing :D
-
Re: What sites are so good that you would'nt give a invite to a buddy?
You can keep your enemies close but would you refer to them as friends. Thats what the term acquaintance, co-worker, and ex-wife is for.
-
Re: What sites are so good that you would'nt give a invite to a buddy?
I would invite any of my friends if I'm certain that he/she know what they are doing in the BT world. Why would someone not want their friends to enjoy a site/tracker that they themselves like?
-
Re: What sites are so good that you would'nt give a invite to a buddy?
Some are more advanced with BT. Can not give a invite 2 s*t for someone's 1'st track ever. Start with TD-ect?...
