[Tip] Create your own Tracker!

Well, this is not a tutorial, it's just a little tip. Because to do a tutorial i would need at least one month, because i would need to explain PHP/MySQL (not a pro at it tough).

However it's not hard to learn it, maybe it's more hard to explain, lol.

Well, so here goes the little tips:

1-First of all you need to understand PHP/MySQL.
2-Then you need to have a server for you tracker (no news here)
3-Now download one of the FREE sources bellow, a pack which contains all what people need to start their own tracker, it's basically the same thing of creating a custom blog in WP and/or a custom forum, you need to have access to a server and copy the files to it (don't forget about PHP/MySQL).
4-Now people which understand PHP/MySQL know what to do.
5-Hope to see a lot of new good lookin trackers soon :w00t:

An idea of lightweight tracker is not so bad. It can help sharing files among friends.

You forgot to say that tracker should invite-only from the beginning and it's name and URL shouldn't be mentioned anywhere.

I don't have the staff, cash, or knowledge of MySQL or PHP (Am currently learning both though).

How costly is it? It can't be for just everyone

Tbsource has a lot of securtiy holes that are open to cross site scripting attacks. Gazelle http://projectgazelle.org/ is what what.cd uses and would be much better.

couldnt find the Gazelle source...
long time ago i tryed Tbsource and Torrentstrike, i couldnt make it work. dont know why the seeds couldnt connect, only the leechers, i gave up after weeks trying to configure.

now i tryed torrent trader, and for my surprise.... it worked on the first try :D. seeded the file from one box and leeched from another one :D

thx a lot man, i really wanted to start a small tracker to share files with my frinds.

That's bad, i think. But have you tried an updated version of both TBs and TTr?

Sometimes it can be some little bug that can be easily fixed.

At least TTr has more updates that the others (from what i've noticed).

Well stoped trying 3 or 4 months ago, but always used the lastest version avaliable of tb and torrentstrike.

Now im in love with TorrentTraders, im using the Lite version, without SQL. Its exactly what i need, and very easy to customize, considreing that im noob on PHP and comparing to the other sources like TB.

Well, if you don't have problems with the TTr it's nice, but most of the top sites use TBs as their source, maybe you have used a buggy version or you did something wrong?

PS: I'll post more soon, and "maybe" some surprises:D

PS: Added some more sources on the first page.

You forgot one key ingredient that is needed if you are going to start a torrent site and that is finding good staff to help you out.

My advice don't make requests for staff in public forums since the most of the time it turns into a disaster and its better to get people that you have some trust in to jump on board as staff and help out.

that and the massive amounts of time it takes to be a torrent site admin/

what you relay need is a wife who works all day to pay for your server and net connection bills so you can spend all your time coding and uploading :naughty:

plus a bunch of uploaders and staff that you trust not to one day fuck off and make there own tracker cos you were not working hard enough. :O
