Yes it was there before 1950. I used to swim in it around 1946BP(Before Pollution). The idea that it was not there before 1950 is just an ocean put there by your not well informed teachers.
it used to be a little beck that went between the poles then the ice caps melted and it burst its banks. honest :rolleyes:
