CoolIT Eliminator Thermoeletronic CPU Cooler

OK so I never really wanted to get into water cooling before because I feel it's a bit expensive BUT I am lurkiing around on some great cooling sites and I come across this product:

Now I have not seen anything like this before.
3DGameMan gives it a "kickass" review ( I know he's corney but I think his reviews are thorough)

I have done some mild reading and can't find anything wrong with it as of yet. Do you guys know anything about it? Any ideas, Pro's or Cons you know about or find will be VERY helpful. Thanks

There newest product seems to be the elite ,the cost is a little high in comparison...I always like doing alot of reading before I make this type of purchase and I'm sure you do to :)

I did decide to do some more research and I cannot find a seriously bad thing about it yet either. What I did see is that the thing is freakin huge and I might have a tough time getting this bitch in my Antec 900 case. I'm pretty good at modding shit so Im sure I'll get it in there. I did look into the elite model but it's around $330 bucks and that seems a bit steep instead of the $160 Im looking at now.

Depends on what you want to cool.

If you were doing either the CPU or the GPU, then the Swiftech kit would be great.

To handle both I'd get the ApogeeDrive (block/pump combo- part of the kit, but available seperately) and a 120.3 rad.

It's possible that the Swiftech 220 kit (same as the first but with a larger radiator) would be OK for both but I'm not sure.

Is the CoolIT expandable to the graphics card as well?

From what I can tell yes but not 100% on that

I just read a few reviews and saw no mention of adding a second (GPU) block.

The tubes are held on with crimped rings and I did not see a fillport, so once the loop was breached I don't see how you'd refill & bleed the system.

Not a big deal if you just want to cool the CPU.

The Swiftech kit clocker mentioned is only $119 at Newegg, with $7.50 shipping.
Or there's an open box version for around $100.

Ah yes I saw that just a while ago the do sell a seperat dual GPU cooler as well but I cannot see how you would install both.

Also I don't know if Im ready to go water cooled just yet. I feel I don't know enough about it and I worry about an accident. I have young kids still, shit I won't even but an LCD TV yet because my oldest is still only 3 years old and if something happens I'm going to jail for sure.

To be sure the radiator on the swiftech goes on the outside of the case right? I do have 2 holes rear of in the Antec 900 case I assume are for water tubes to go out so I don't think that would be a problem. might I ask also what is the difference between the 120 and the 220 models??

The 120 takes a single 120mm fan, the 220, two.
Presumably, they'll come out with an "Ultra" model called the 320 someday.

You also see rads listed as 120.1/120.2/120.3 to denote the same thing.

I believe there is a unit that runs 4 x 140mm fans- or maybe that was just someone's feverish dream...

Edit: I have read some bad reviews on New egg about the Eliminator it seems it has a crappy pump that "WILL" get noisy after a week or so and so for the money maybe i'll go water cooled but I have a fear of it leaking all over my expensive board OR... I can just stop trying to get the next best thing and stick with my original plan of getting the Enzotech Extreme-X and save around $100 buck for now and save up for a premo WC system

That would be "primo", dude.

For what it's worth, I've never had a fatal waterleak (knock on silicon) and watercooling is far safer than it might seem at first blush.

As the Swiftech kit demonstrates, it needn't be expensive either- for @ $120 you get 95% of the results you'd see with a top-o-the-line loop.

See now I figured thats a cheap starter setup but as you know I take your word seriously, Hmmm I don't know what to do Honestly I just want to make a good decision to last a while as you know Iv been putting together my rig piece by piece for a few months now and I just want something with a balance of low maintenance and good performance price a lesser factor. There really is no such thing as a "starter setup"...there's just bad, good and best.

"Bad" would be Koolance or Thermaltake and we won't even talk about those.

"Good" would be most everything else, depending on how you mix and match the parts.

"Best" will vary month by month as new stuff is always coming out.

The difference between a sub $200 "good" kit and the best you could buy (cooling the same parts) might be as much as $125 but the best kit would only lower the temps by maybe 3-5°c.

If you want to come up with a budget, I'd be happy to spec you some parts.
I'd need to know the case it's going in and what (if any) future expandability you require.

Edit: Just saw this...thought you might want to consider it.

Yeah I saw the Freezone elite but it's around $400 so I figure thats a bit much I figured my max to be around $200 Also before I dive into this how much lower will the temps generally be over say a very good air cpu cooler?

Also with the swiftech kit do I have to buy "anti freeze" also or is everything I need in the box?

I just run straight distilled water- no additives at all.

-Unless you live in Antarctica there is no need for antifreeze.

-Unless you have mixed metals in the loop (commonly, copper and bare aluminum) there is no need for anticorrosives.

-Unless you live in a steaming jungle there is no need for antibiocides/algaecides.

-Unless you are gay there is no need for flourescences or coloring.

-Unless you plan on spewing coolant all over the place there is no need for nonconductive fluid (which doesn't work anyway).

Nothing you can add to the distilled water will improve the cooling capabilities or safety in case of leaks.

OK so again sorry to sound like the WC pneub I am but does the radiator go on the inside or the outside of the case? Also I was under the impression that I would need a reservoir or something, I mean of course I will read the directions but I honestly don't have a handle on the concept of setting it up just yet or the components.

The radiator can go either inside or outside of the case, depending on your situation.
Personally I would prefer it inside the case to give a cleaner overall look, but often times the motherboard or other things will get in the way and prove this to be difficult. With the 120 though, you should be able to fit it inside your case with relative ease.
As for a reservoir, you can either use one or go with a T-line, which is essentially just a "T" in the tubing (preferably at the highest point) with a plug in the top where you can add liquid and bubbles can escape the loop. Some of the bay reservoirs looks pretty cool if your into that, or the swiftech microres is great if you want to fit it somewhere inside of your case.

Ponder for a moment the difference between "cheap" and "inexpensive"...

I've never tried to install a waterloop without hacking the hell out of the case to fit the components.
I really can't see how the two holes in your case would be of much use- the barbs on a rad are situated horizontally, not vertically.

D., how would you rate your mechanical aptitude?
To successfully install watercooling you should be able to look at the parts, then look at the case and see at least three different ways you could configure it to fit.
Then, without a backward look, break out the tools needed and dismantle your new pride and joy while ignoring it's screams of dismay.

It can be dirty work- both literally and figuratively.

You do realize that the Wolfie will be one of the coolest running chips you've probably ever owned...it doesn't cry out for water the way old Athlons or P4s did.

As long as this thread has already gone careening off the rails- have you seen the Orochi?
This thing screams "excessive" like nothing else I've seen recently. You could probably run it fanless at stock speeds.

WOW thats some setup, I think it's a bit "busy" for my taste also.

My mechanical aptitude I would say is WAY above average. I am a union carpenter for almost 15 years now, now when you think carpenter most would think of I only use wood but here in NYC we don't build too many houses so my job entails a wide range of jobs and a wider range of materials and both hand and power tools. So I would say I could make most anything work out but TBH I need to see the parts in my hands first to make a judgment call as to where things should go. As far as the holes being horizontal and the radiator barbs being vertical I don't see much of a problem there, I know I could mount this internally now, but if I were to get it external I have faith I would get it to work. I could always use copper pipe and sweat all the fittings I would need in place no prob :P

I know I know The Wolfie is a cool chip but I'm a Toy Whore flat out. I never got into water cooling and the more I read about it the more I NEED it, this happens with everything as you prob know already, I see it I want it and I wrestle with myself for a week or two before making a decision, cal it a character flaw.

See now the smart thing to do would be to accept that I don't need to water cool my system and be done with it, and then comes the wrestling like a bitch I can't make up my mind. I have a problem deciding fearing I will not make the right choice. If I get the Swiftech I will have it all installed and say " did I really need this?" and if I get the Enzotech I will say" HMMM maybe I should get this thing under water" So really I can't win as I am always looking for the next best thing.

Wha if the next hot new CPU comes out and it runs hot? Then I am going to want a WC setup but in fairness I could always order it then AHHHH I still don't know

Get the Swiftech 220 kit then.
Throw some Scythe S-Flex fans on the radiator.
Pick up a Sunbeam rheobus to control the fans and pump.
Get a gallon of distilled water from the grocery store.

Report back here at 0600 next Monday.

Now MOVE!
