well when i joined in here good old FTN was the only one with freeleech and also every one and including ME wanted to be a part of the tracker....seems like a long time ago

i tot freeleech would be fun its not about not seeding back its more about like not worrying about the number of leechers before i would download an old torrent...most of the old movies i would want might not have leechers and i might not be able to seed back everything i downloaded ....

well after a while there opened a bunch of new trackers the fall of oink triggered everything and every one of those offered freeleech

is freeleech really an effective method to maintain a good seeder leecher ratio and also to keep the members interested in downloading from your torrent
if it is soo effective how come revtt,TL,black cats all these old well established torrent sites would have ratio system.....

i personally think may be these new torrent site must have a ratio system initially and then filter out the leechers from seeders and eventually make their torrent site ratio free like in a year or so....even "the great Demonoid" had a ratio system all tho it was more like free leech.


may be these polls might help in some way i dont know,i am trying to contribute to the trackers because i really care .

A liberal ratio system, I mean we need some order in a community. Or else it will become a jungle.
This ensures the torrents longer life span with some flexibility on the users habits.

to some ppl .the strict ratio system is first priority.

dont get me wrong, I LOVE that site, but i was stupid when i first started using it, and let things go before they hit 1.0, and now my account is screwed unless i re-dl a lot of the torrents, and seed them for the bonus system.

i DO have a pretty decent ratio there too, (almost > 2).

A fairly strict ratio but with a liberal bonus system so that people with slower connections aren't unfairly penalized.
Free leech on old torrents .

An evolved, intelligent ratio system, similar to the ones of FSC and STMusic (iTS and FTN's ratio systems sound promising as well). A good ratio system should realise that some people either have very slow connection, or snatch their torrents way later, so no matter how long or how hard they try, they can't seed back what they've leeched, because there are simply no leechers. Moreover, very old torrents should instantly become freeleech (usually, by that time only overseeders with very fast lines stay connected, so they can take care of the speed anyway), and bonus should be rewarded to those who stay connected for very long even with no leechers.

Imo, something like iTS and BCG's have. Time requirement combined with a bonus system.

24/7 freeleech without any restriction (seeding time, individual torrent ratio, etc) would be the worst system.

lol go to mininova, they are always FL :lol:

blackcats-games has the perfect ratio system. Seed untill 1:1 or after a certain amount of time seeding. Even if you don't upload anything your ratio becomes 1:1 for whatever you downloaded.

Tough? It isn't tough, but I am in agreement with any system that allows you to download anything you want, and if it takes time or BW in giving back then so what, that is after all what the whole point of the scene & warez is all about - getting the stuff to your PC for you to use without having to go to the retailers and handing over cash.
