I think Zakk Wylde's solos are the best...!
I also love Stevie Ray Vaughan's music, all his solo are great, for example in Mary had a little lamb or Scuttle Buttin' ... =)
Stairway to Heaven
Stairway to Heaven and Brothers in Arms comes a close second.
I'd have to say the solo from "Comfortably Numb" by Pink Floyd
Stairway to Heaven
I've lost my faith in guitar players from this one thread. Stairway to heaven = best guitar solo?
Wheres Dimebag? Malmsteen? Loomis? Amott Brothers? Where are the talented guitarists with kickass good solos in all aspects from emotion to speed?
Anywho, no such thing as the best guitar solo, that's like saying who's you're favorite child, you can do it but it's so very wrong haha
My picks:
1) The Last Enemy and/or Vultures - Arch Enemy
2) Born and/or The Heart Collector- Nevermore
3) Black Star and/or Far Beyond the Sun - Malmsteen
4) Jato Unit and/or Miles of Machines - Jeff Loomis
5) Splintered Visions - Into Eternity
6) The Trooper - 'Maiden
Brain fart. Anyways, this list can go on forever, grab some John Petrucci, some Hendrix, there are so many better songs/artists out there that can write a hell of a good solo full of emotion that moves you. Be bold, try something different instead of sticking to what everyone else is sticking to if you catch my drift, other wise you'll miss some great music!
Don't flame without actually listening to the songs I listed, specifically the solos...
P.S. highly recommend people to listen to the outro solo to Bridge of Destiny by Arch Enemy (5:30 into the song)
Ted Nugent - Stranglehold
The guitar dominates this song.
Stairway to Heaven
Santana
Not technically a guitar solo but Andres Segovia playing Mozart's the Magic Flute.
Best classical guitarist ever.
My Picks:
1) inside looking out - Grand Funk Railroad - Live Album
2) in need - Grand Funk Railroad - Live Album
3) child in time - Deep Purple - Made In Japan
4) zoom club - Budgie - In for the Kill
5) machine gun - Jimi Hendrix - Band of Gypsys
6) freebird - Lynyrd Skynyrd - One More from the Road
7) super boogie, hong kong blues - Santana - Viva!
8) phoenix - Wishbone Ash - Live Dates
9) basking in the white of the midnight sun - Armageddon - Armageddon
There are many others.
Any Jimmy Page, any Buckethead, most Zakk Wylde, Vaseline by Stone Temple Pilots, Willie the Pimp by Frank Zappa, Crossroads by Cream and David Bowie's Moonage Daydream.
