Who will win in '08? PS3 or X360?

Sorry but I'm not going to compare the Wii since it's in a totally different league.

I keep hearing that "this is the year of Playstation 3"...nearly every exclusive the PS3 has can be countered by the X360, for example MGS4 => Splinter Cell: Conviction, FFXIII => Lost Odyssey. The only "crazy" exclusive that PS3 has this year is MGS4 and that's it...

To me I believe that the PS3 is overrated and has under-delivered.

I'm sorry but 2008 won't be the year of the PS3.

Haven't heard of the other ones but i'm sure they will be good.

I have no interest in any of the PS3 games mentioned but who knows maybe I'd like one or two of those ones as well.

In my opinion is the year of PS3.

But of the PS3 games listed I'm only interested in Metal Gear so my vote goes to Xbox.

What I think is right now, 360 is on the lead because of it's pre released advantage
and great 07~08 line ups. But I believe their gaps will disappear by the this year's Christmas.

I understand that the PS3 is beginning to outsell the X360, but that's because of Sony's good marketing strategy and not due to their games...I also think that the general public is misinformed and will stay with PS3 because of the success of PS2.

It probably is there year for console sales but I still think 360 games are better.

main reason a portion of the people are buying ps3 is because of blu ray movies, not because of its games.

microsoft will definitely need to lower the price of their xbox if they want to stay in 2nd place.

Yep I agree. But in a years time I think the PS3 will catch up on the games.

I'd buy PS3 to play MGS4, Gran Turismo 5 and Final Fantasy Series !
And X360 to play on MS Live, best network evah.

Xbox Live is much better than PlayStation Network in my opinion though..

I think the only way for the PS3 to succeed is for it to have really, really great exclusives. I think most people that are buying the PS3 buy it because it can play Blu-Ray, though >.>

And I prefer Xbox Live over PSN. Sure, PSN is free, but Live is more feature-complete and I think it has a better community than PSN (neither are very good though =/)

What features does Xbox live have that PSN doesn't. I have played on a friends PS3 online quite a lot and it seems pretty good. Anyway even if there are a lot of differences I don't think PSN is too far behind Xbox live, is it?

XBL is on another level then PSN for now but we'll see what happens when Home is released, if its as good as XBL then I guess M$ has no choice but to make XBL (gold) free or release something else.

Kotaku.com had something about Home, and in it's Beta stage, it is horrid, apparently. I don't quite remember why though, or how far into Beta it is.

360 > PS3 until PS3 is easily modded and games can load off a harddrive :p

I don't think so. I think the Xbox 360 has already established its userbase, with it having been cheaper than the PS3 for such a longtime. Not to mention, everyone who plays online already has their set of friends, and they're already comfortable with Live. They don't want to have to change over to a new thing. If your friend is on Live, you know that they'll always be on Live.

Yep I agree that Xbox 360 has an already established set of users, but I think that most people looking to buy one of the two, maybe not right now but in a years time, will head towards the PS3 due to exclusive games that will begin to appear. And if the PS3 Home thing comes out, accompanied by a fall in price, the Xbox 360 will have very few advantages ofver the PS3 whereas the PS3 will have many great advantages over the Xbox.

So overall I think that in a years time, when the PS3 price has fallen, and it has improved its online gameplay, the PS3 will be a huge amount better than the Xbox

360 will win for sure. They been winning and will continue to do so until the next generation consoles come out in a few years. Maybe then will Sony have a chance.

I've got both consoles and as much as I want to see the PS3 do better, I'm more interested in the 360 lineup. Plus my 360 is flashed. :P

The PS3 games that I am most interested in are Motorstorm: Pacific Rift, Resistance 2, Killzone 2, and Socom Confrontation.

Well i have x360 and probably soon (in few days) will buy PS3 finalyy

and who will win the *console war* i think it will be PS3 since PS brand have much much more userbase than xbox brand

ps2 have sold over 120m. and xbox just maybe over 30m. and also with ps1

but i dont think that this should mean something anyway

TBH I think that the Xbox 360 has the edge over the PS3 because of its exclusive games and online multiplayer. Sony has nice exclusives but where the hell are they? They seem to keep getting delayed and developers say that it is more expensive and timely to make games on the PS3. In the U.S. it's obvious that the 360 will beat the shit out of the PS3 IMO. Every kid I knew in high school that played video games, played their 360 over Live. Why buy a PS3 if all of your friends own a 360? Halo 3 and Gears of War are/were huge games for the 360. As of yesterday, Final Fantasy XIII was announced to be released on both the 360 and PS3. What real reason is there to buy a PS3 for games, besides MGS4 which is a somewhat niche game in the U.S.? Sure it plays blu-ray movies but Sony also needs to focus on it's games. In addition, I've found 360 games to be generally more affordable or get cheaper much faster than PS3 games, although I'm sure most 360 owners on FST have their 360s flashed anyways so there already is an obvious advantage there. :P

I think 360 will win this round. It has a great games library, and you can't beat xbox LIVE. Obviously the fact you can flash the drives is going to attract more buyers, and the more consoles sold, the more likely game devs are to produce games for the platform. The only major set back with the 360 is the 3 red lights, but MS are slowly sorting that one out.

in '08 i think it will be xbox360.

I don't see the PS3 reclaiming a lot of the PS2's userbase. Many, many of those users are now part of the Xbox 360's userbase. It had an entire year on PS3 to attract a userbase, and it managed to deliver. I know that would keep me with the 360. The Xbox 360 is landing exclusive deals not only with games, but with services as well, as was evidented by their Netflix deal. I can see a 360 sitting in almost every home, as the PS2 pretty much did.

I completely agree with you except that the PS3 now has a video service as of yesterday. I don't know if it's up to par with Netflix thoguh.
