What's this called...
When you peel potatos, chop them up into small (1"by1") pieces then cover them in oil and spices and bake them in the oven (or fry in a pan on top of the stove) what are they called?
My family always called them fried potatos but techincally if you're making them in the oven they aren't fried.

Re: What's this called...
I have them down in my recipe book as 'fried spiced potatoes'. I usually do them in a yoghurt sauce though.

Re: What's this called...
They're not baked because you're using oil. You're roasting them.
They're called roasted potatoes.
Roasties like.

Re: What's this called...
Is thread preview not working for anyone else?
-
Re: What's this called...
The are called badly cut chips, and the thread preview isn't working for me either.

Re: What's this called...
The commercial fries that you buy at the supermarket are baked in the oven but they're still called french fries.
What does it matter what they're called anyway?
-
Re: What's this called...
I'm just gonna throw this out there, "chips"?

Re: What's this called...
Spam egg lettuce tomatoes potatoes and spam.
What kind of English breakfast is that.
-
Re: What's this called...
Tsk! It's not spam, it's Quorn bacon. You're supposed to use streaky bacon but I had to adapt it :(. It did taste lovely though....OH reckons it's the best thing I've ever cooked. Although that could actually be an insult I guess :ermm:

Oh and it's not Quorn bacon. It's Quorn Quorn.
Bacon is made out of pigs.

Re: What's this called...
Yes I know, it was me who first made the fried eggs/my tits analogy. Actually it's really accurate because the plates are different sizes as well .
