Get rid of Explorer and install Opera ,is fast as hell.OPERA
great i8dea but the problem is we have to get 30,000 members to do the same thing
this will not solve anything! only webpages load a bit faster that's it.
He may be onto something though. I get half the timeouts with mozilla firebird that I do with IE. The average ping now is over 1200ms due to redirects so maybe IE can't cope with it.
avant is faster and well, in my preference, better. A lot better.
avant is NOT a browser. its an addon to ie. and no way its faster than opera.
IMHO, I agree with balamm. IE sucks but because 1) I can't get it off Windows and 2) Most sites are designed compatible as it, I still use it. Mozilla Firebird is the only real browser I use anymore - It's a hell of a lot faster than IE and is a lot more modular/less invasive (I've got MF in a folder on my desktop, not installed but only extracted, which leaves me to get rid of MF by just deleting the folder instead of some sloppily-written uninstaller - Tell me another decent browser which can do the same)
Opera, I liked for a bit - But unfortunately I'm a Javaphobe. If Opera was available in a non-Java version (I mean a full install, not the reinstall version on the Opera web site), then I may like it again.
Until then, MF does it for me :D But as Hogster says, how are you going to be able to get 30k to switch over, short of publishing a link to Opera and/or the Mozilla site on the K-Lite site...;)
I just installed Opera and I've got to say thanks to Sharedholder.
I find it far quicker than IE and there's a few weeks novelty value in it.
I'll see how it goes. :)
I am just downloading it now so will try it too as used it a while ago and thought it was ok.Quote:

i think mozilla firebird is great

don't know about anyone else though
There is no way to say really... because the dll files required for IE to run are already running in the background... that is why it seems to load faster when you first open it compared to mozilla.
Mozilla is actually faster loading pages, you are more secure, and you can actually decide what do you wnat it to do... it even has an excellent built in pop up blocker.
Mozilla Firebird has my vote all the way... when you compare the two on the task manager you see IE consuing about the same resources as Mozilla even though IE has some of its "charge" in another components that are already running.
Along the same lines... if you use an e-mail client... use Thunderbird.
I'm pretty hooked on associating favicons/.ico files with my favorites in IE :geek:
I'm assuming either M.F. or Opera don't accept favicons as they were designed for IE.
Will I at least be able to export my favorites to either browser?
The first time you run mozilla it will read and import all the bookmarks you have in IE... Mozilla actually has a better system in my opinion to manage the bookmarks.
Just one Bookmarks.html not 3875 shortcuts...
Check this page for the extensions. Leech is very cool. Allows you to locally mirror an entire website with all links intact.

i tried opera, its OK..
Wait, do I want Mozilla Firebird 0.6.1 or Mozilla 1.4?
Mozilla is now being developed the same way as Firebird is... the only thing I don't like about Firebird 0.6 is that it remembers the nicknamse I use on different sites even if I set it not to, it is a docummented bug and it's been fixed. (I'm not sure if it was already).
I use Mozilla 1.4 as of now... like balamm says... the extensions are awesome.
There isnt a browser on earth that will stop those obnoxious sql database errors.
That problem resides with the admins of the forum.
We're not talking here about sql errors... <_<Quote:

You obviously dont understand about sql and apache. The time outs and the sql errors coincide with one another. Im not going to sit here and waste my time trying to explain why. <_<
By the looks of your comment you woudlnt comprehend anyway. <_<
I wouldn't, poor me... :(

What are you doing wasting you're time with us mere mortals, oh gran guru?
P.S. You have no idea what I know or what I don't... so, as general advice, don't go around insulting people, you might be surprised. If you can't say something constructivelly without flaming, why bother?
Maybe because less than half the people here use Mozilla??Quote:

Did anyone read the yahoo article a couple weeks ago about the demise of Netscape and possibly Mozilla? I only saw the headline -- wondering what the situation is with future development on the browser...
As far as I know Netscape is basically the same Mozilla (Using Gecko) with some features like the pop up blocker removed and all the AOL bloat added.
Netscape is owned by AOL, since they made a deal with microsoft, they will be basing their software in IE instead of Mozilla/Gecko engine. I don't know if new versions of netscape will be released.
If I did not understand wrong, mozilla development will continue through the Mozilla Foundation...
Quote:
Mozilla Foundation
The Mozilla Foundation is a new non-profit organization that will serve as the home for mozilla.org. As before, mozilla.org will coordinate and encourage the development and testing of Mozilla code. The Mozilla Foundation will also promote the distribution and adoption of our flagship applications based on that code. AOL, Sun Microsystems, Red Hat, and other companies will continue to support Mozilla through the Foundation.
What this means for the Mozilla browser and our other products and technologies: more innovation from the open source developers, and a greater focus on end users.
/dum de dum.....

u guys should be talking about opera (witth jaza) cos opera itself is shit and i mean it anyway try downloading opera (with Jaza) and u'll see the difference!!!!!!!
What is "jaza", 2Pacalypse?
It isn't found in google or the opera site.
I don't think so many users & critics would swear by it if it were "shit".
i was tryin Mozilla and when i had to install the flash plugin for it it never worked?
 JAVA not JAZA  :lol:Quote:

Shit -- sorry for the double post -- might as well make the most of it...
So according to you guys I think, mozilla doesn't accept favicons, but I think I came across a site that mentions that that they are somehow compatible through some wizardry. Anyone know for sure?
I normally use opera. but i just downloaded mozilla firebird. its really fast!!! :)
i gotta watch my fricken spelling mistakes (i type to fast),

Opera is awesome, but I really hate that tool area on the left...
Umm... I'm pretty sure that's a full install. Besides, what the hell is a "reinstall version"?Quote:
