On a fresh install of XP home it removes 189MG and a fresh install of XP PRO it is around 289MG I believe on the first run, after that it will only remove less than 1M.
At least that is how it has functioned on my system.
Yes windows has a disk cleaner utility and if it hangs on compress old files you can edit the registry or download the patch HERE.
Steve

I tested it throughly and found it to be a very good application.
Also create a new folder and drag the wincleaner file into it. When it updates it will create a new file and you can keep everything neat and tidy.
Does the one you donwloaded have an auto update feature in the upper right hand corner?
Enjoy,
Steve
It helps if you would that information in the original post.Quote:

Removes temp junk, dead shortcuts, dead registry entries, and more. Great program and really small. :)

damn she's hot.
I've been seaching for about 1 hr. for it on kl, i havn't found it yet.....i have found it on webattack.com, but it's a trial version. and i can't find a serial code for it, anybody have it, PM me pls.
Is there any chance that this program could remove something of value?
If you download Norton SystemWorks (over 100 MB), you'll get Norton CleanSweep with it. I am not sure how effective it is because it didn't tell me what it was deleting.
Hope it helps though.
98lite
&
XPlite
It deletes crap like Screensavers & Wallpaer ect... that no one uses,
I've got all three of these on my system so i guess I'm a leading authority :D
Norton stystemworks Norton SystemWorks 2003-Retail.exe is by far the safest I've tried, it has a registry cleaner, web stuff cleaner and u can just let it repair things like it thinks safe there's also a fail safe system where it saves deleted stuff to the norton protected bin which is just like another recycle bin, anything deleted while uninstalling progs etc are kept there, if norton reckons its unsafe to delete it will keep stuff until u empty the protected files, best method run the windoctor test to see if any probs, this will repair anything and recover lost files, wait to see for a week if no probs the empty the protected files. (Norton is easiest to use)
Then there's g-lock temp file cleaner www.glocksoft.com which removes temp file not found by windows.
Then there's JV-16 powertools jv16.PowerTools.v1.4.0.237-StyLe.ShareReactor.rar not for the faint hearted, this will find anything bad reg entries, empty folders, temp files, broken shortcuts orphaned dlls and other stuff we don't need to know about :D it only advices u on stuff thats safe to delete but the end decision is down to u although anything it removes is kept in a back up file(just wait to your system is problem free b4 deleting back ups)
Anyway thats what I reckon but I'm heavily intoxicated :D
Yea... The girl in my sig is Tawny Roberts, lovely don't you think? :wub:Quote:

If your looking for Ultra WinCleaner, PM me with your email address and I'll email it. Its about 924KB.
To clear the junk from my PC, I would do it in steps:
1.) Remove all internet rubbish - enter "Internet Options" from the "Tools" menu in Internet Explorer. Clear History and Delete Cookies. Click "Delete Files" under "Temporary Internet Files" and tick the checkbox "Delete all offline content".
2.) Clean-up registry, use one of several registry cleaners available on the 'net.
3.) Run "Disk Cleanup" as well as Defragment the HDD.
4.) Remove all spyware, ads and pop-ups; use Ad-aware or SpyBot Search & Destroy for this, and to top it off, do a virus-scan.
5.) Delete any files that you do not need and burn to DVD+/-RW or CD-RW.
6.) Go to Add/Remove Programs and delete programs/games that are wasting space.
Good luck!
