Would you sell your daughter for a cow

If you were living in the medieval ages, and you were a landless labourer passing through harsh times, with no means to subsist your family of 4, including a baby that needs milk.
To what extent do you go to try and provide for you and yours?

Re: Would you sell your daughter for a cow
I would get a job as an airline pilot or something; I hear that pays pretty well.
Re: Would you sell your daughter for a cow
Did you just read world with out end?
Re: Would you sell your daughter for a cow
If you were landless, then where are you keeping the cow?
Re: Would you sell your daughter for a cow
With a tongue like that, who could resist? :shifty:

With a daughter like that, who needs a cow?

Landless doesn't mean you don't have a shack to live in. It just discerns you from the labourers who do have land (aka a peasant with land of his own).
The landless labourer would have to find work in another wealthy peasant's land, or any other means to subsist his family (poaching and selling rabbit skins, or thieving, and so on).

I would become I rugged handsome outlaw, living by my wits and a preternatural skill with the longbow.
I would also favor green as a fashion statement.
Re: Would you sell your daughter for a cow
But then you'd have to kill innocent civilians. Children and the like. Unarmed, helpless, good-natured and hard-working people.
Just to quench your thirst for the wine barrel.
Sounds slightly selfish, like.
Re: Would you sell your daughter for a cow
They had it coming for being uncaring aristocracy.
Besides it's my imaginary life and I can do as I wish with it.
Right now I'm shooting arrows at you in my mind.
Re: Would you sell your daughter for a cow

It always makes me a bit sad when people don't get irony. :(

It's the internets. It's hard to get much of what goes on in here.

The ruling class is not fond of irony.
