I think what.cd has come up pretty well after the descent of the legendary OiNK Pink Palace. It has some very nice themes, lots of content and above all (for me), Gazelle. Do you think it is upto the quality of OiNK (or better) or not?
My opinion is that it has come up to the standard of OiNK.
how would a answer here have any impact no matter how trivial on the BT history or how it progresses/evolves through time ..
it has everything that takes to be a great tracker n a community..
its slowly, but surely evolving and giving lots back to BT community..including Gazelle..;)
PS: hope it becomes a lil easier to seed on..:p
It wud be a main stream nusic tracker only if they implement some seed hour bonus system otherwise u can just pray to god that some one downloads what u upload or what u r seeding

I have never used What.cd, I do miss Oink thow, I uploaded loads of old drum and bass packs that I had.

I agree it can be a pain to seed on. The only sureshot way is to upload your own torrents. BTW, currently, they have free leech, so lots of leechers.Quote:

How hard is it to seed on what? I'm a member of libble and I think its pretty tough. There is usually 10 or less seeders and 0-1 leechers per torrent. Uploading my own stuff is the only way I get any decent seeding action.

I can tell you the What.cd is a great site, with great content, with awesome speeds and above 200.000 torrents.
I never really appreciated OiNk, but that's more to do with me not being much of a music man, I prefer to watch a movie than listen to music. So OiNk never really excited me, what.cd does. They are community focused, not just focused within their own site, but the bit torrent community at large. Their openness with their source code, vision and direction is refreshing and exciting. So what.cd gets my vote, hands down!
well, in terms of shitty over controlling power hungry nazi heavy handed staff what.cd is on par with OiNK, waffles staff are decent tho
I don't think it's up to OiNK's status yet. It's a great site though, and it keeps getting better. What will make it one of the best music sites around is if they implement a bonus system(since it can be a little tough to seed at times).
oink had a buzz surrounding it, that transcended beyond the filesharing community. I saw people on non-filesharing boards constantly giving out and requesting oink invites. I don't see that happening for what or waffles.

I think that What kicks OiNK's ass atm. No disrespect but things have moved on and What are now much better than OiNK ever was.
what is pretty sick but i still remember struggling to not find music im after on oink, but is easy enough on what however the extent to which what has improved is unbelievable. what will surpass oink but will take some more time.

waffles is closer to oink, but whatcd is also very very good. Since oink closed, we now have 2 oink's like sites: whatcd and waffles :)

I could do that if I downloaded *everything*, seeded it like hell, and removed everything when 6 hours had passed. That seems a bit cheep though :mellow:
What.CD is a great great site. Probably the best music bittorrent site around, and in many ways better than OiNK. There are new features being added every week which is a lot more than you can say with every other bittorrent site.
They've also shared their codebase with everybody so that people can check it for security holes and help out with the coding. They're very forward thinking people.
Torrents wise the site now has 30 thousand more torrents than OiNK did when it was shutdown, and invites are relatively easy to come by. If you know about sharing music but don't have any friends with invites there is an irc room that they will interview you for an invite. Currently they're running a competition to increaese the variety of albums on the site and ending with a free-leech. Thousands of new albums have been uploaded; It's amazing!
In the next couple of months What.CD will surpass OiNK.
edit: As far as not being able to seed on a site such as this, as others have said it's really about patience and keeping everything seeding. Even with a seedbox unless you have 100+ torrents seeding you won't really get anywhere. Also uploading really pays off and keeps the site running well. :)

What and Waffles are amazing in their own ways. Within this first year, they have exceeded most expectations... and by far! They are both doing a great job taking bit torrent in a new, useful direction.
However, if it wasn't for OiNK things may have been really, really different! Everything happens for a reason.
