Which Antivirus do you recommend ?
Hi everyone...
I know that there is a thread with the same purpose , but i think that thread is out of date , and many new Antivirus softwares were released and others went out from the competition .
So i made this new thread and I accept any advices to make this thread better and worthy one to give every possible idea about Antiviruse softwares .
so pls vote for the best antivirus u have experienced and if u can tell us why u recommend it ( any advantage the antivirus provides and other doesn't ).
so if u can give us any info for why u use this one and avoid using others we will appreciate .
So let's start....

Re: Which Antivirus do you recommend ?
it is for sure kaspersky the best
others have problems with finding some viruses and some trojans
it is the most powerful tool that u can trust to protect ur pc
but sometimes it is hard to find thats all

Re: Which Antivirus do you recommend ?
Kaspersky is the best for sure!

Re: Which Antivirus do you recommend ?
The Nod first and Kaspersky a close second . Think A or B . Both make very good Firewalls aswell but find Kas a liittle harder to setup . You missed F-Secure another good program made by of course another Euro company and worth a look .

Re: Which Antivirus do you recommend ?
Add Avira at poll, Avira is best, light on resource, and with great protection.

Re: Which Antivirus do you recommend ?
I havent used all of those but out of the ones I have I would say NOD32
I use it on all of my computers and have not had 1 problem on any of them
and its been almost a year on NOD32, I like it becuase its really easy, fast and
wont use alot of resources like some of the others do even when idle

Then we have to ask admins to add avira and f-secure to the poll .

Re: Which Antivirus do you recommend ?
Kaspersky is the best but it has a little difficult interface , so it needs some professional pple to use it .

Your poll choices are fine , maybe we need " other " option ? I only mention F-Secure because a few friends are on Shaw cable and are provided with Shaw-Secure as an setup option , its based on F-secure .
I wanted to try it so went with the retail version for awhile to see what the fuss was about . :)

maybe u say so cause u didn't try to scan ur pc with another antivirus .
Hear my story if u have time.
I was using nod 32 for couple years , and i saw kaspersky IS 2009 have a good lookin , so i was curious is kaspersky worth a try or it's still the most heavy antivirus without extra featurs , so I install it on my PC and other PCs in my home , and the result was shocking :O.
i found hundred of viruses on my PC and even on my Flash disk , ofcourse i mad a full scan with NOD32 with the lastest update b4 installing kaspersky .
so If u have time do the same as i did and see how many viruses u will find ( u should find many viruses that's if u are using NOD32 for a long time ) and pls share ur result with us ( i'm a little curios Doc causei wanna know if u are inficted :naughty: ).

Re: Which Antivirus do you recommend ?
I chose Kaspersky Internet Security after trying every security product on the market as it fills all of my requirements. However the latest version is not a good successor and I will stay with version 7 until my subscription expires.

Re: Which Antivirus do you recommend ?
I use Avira on Vista 64. Avira should be in the poll, as somebody said. And looking through the posts here I'm not alone.

Re: Which Antivirus do you recommend ?
Wrong approach. All AntiVirus Software producers exaggerate their marketing. No AV Software can guarantee complete protection.
The use of any AV software
- doesn't give you protection from unknown malware
- consumes CPU and HD performance
- gives you the false impression of being safe from malware
The time between the creation of a new malware and the update of the AV database is too long: Any malware has to be found, analysed and implemented into the database.
If you want your computer to be malware-free, you have to define a newly installed OS of your choice as malware-free (trust!), must not install new software and must not connect it to any network. Everything else is a compromise. Even specially malformed data embedded in videos, Word documents or pictures can be used to compromise your computer system.
My advice:
- use an OS that's not commonly used and has a decent security architecture (Linux based, BSD)
- update your OS regularly and only with patches from the author
- don't install new SW unless it is absolutely neccessary
- don't connect to any network unless it is absolutely neccessary
- if you connect to a network and have to open ports, use a firewall (a decent one)
- don't work as privileged user
If you do all this, and have to install new Software from the internet:
- find a SW that does what you want
- decide if you trust the author
- authenticate the author
- download the SW from the author's website
- checksum the SW
If you want to double-check if the author could ship his/her SW with a known malware, you can check it with an online scanner like http://www.virustotal.com/

Re: Which Antivirus do you recommend ?
Protection wise, Nod32 and Kaspersky have been tested against others and came out on top.

Re: Which Antivirus do you recommend ?
For those who use Windows I'd recommend Shadowuser, even though it isn't an AVP. As long as you configure it right and remember to save your important files in "safe" folders or drives it's great. Especially if it's installed right after a clean OS reinstall. It's like booting into a recently formatted OS every time you starts the computer, and it has saved me a lot of time since I installed it on my mothers comp... Well, I guess that some will find this "rebooting to save a new setting" kind of annoying, but hey it does it's job all right. :yup:

Re: Which Antivirus do you recommend ?
kaspershit is among the worst, most unstable security suites there is.Why do you think(no pun intended) theres a new beta every other day?
They can't get it right is why.
Kaspershit will slow our system as bad as Norton and deliver false positives galore. It will even tag explorer.exe as a treat and kill your internet.
1 - AntiVir Premium
2 - AntiVirusKit (AVK)
3 - avast! Professional
